Fair amount of anthropological literature deals with exactly this. That in many ‘traditional’ societies the men create rituals, stories and taboos around female reproductive powers. Often the myths relate how women stole these powers from men or are consigned to the role of vessels ‘birthing bodies’. Were I a feminist, this would very much be my attack line.
