President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Funny, here in the US even as fucked up as our government has gotten over the last 20 years, we still have no fear of calling Bush/Obama/Trump/Biden imperialist fuck monkeys and war criminals.
Dude if you call Obama a monkey in front of a camera the local blacks will have free license to assault you and the local media will cancel you Stasi style. Also we never had a war where the hajis were invading us so we didn't need to take such measures. The Axis and allied powers did take similar measures in WW2. I want to add the US would be in a much better place if the FBI did crack commie sympathizer skulls in the cold war instead of letting them run our schools.

I don't disagree there. But then I guess that makes the argument for Russia to do the same to keep the troonishness at bay, right?

The fact is, you just can't trust government in general. If you support their authoritarian approach to keep out the bad, you have to recognize it will eventually be used against you.

Free speech is not freedom from consequences. It's a leftie line I wholeheartedly agree with. Shariy fancies himself a terminal contrarian who thinks that Ukraine has chosen a wrong path, even though only 10 years before he actually was actually praising Hitler for stuff like sending gypsies to concentration camps: https://informator.press/sharyy-vos...mu-ubezhyshche-es-dolzhen-ob-tom-znat-yvanov/.

So why shouldn't he suffer for his beliefs?

the US has not been in a serious war since the civil war (which it fought against itself lol)
the closest it has gotten since then was ww2, but even during that time, at no point did any of americas enemies get anywhere close to a position from where they could actually threaten mainland america

And the monkeys will feel insulted to be compared to Obama. :story:

So basically, the NATO side will hate him for saying that NATO provoked Russia into war, and the Russians will hate him for insinuating that their patriach is Putin's little bitch.

To be fair to His Holiness, NATO was rather hawkish in its language concerning Russia. But to be fair to NATO, what part of the former Soviet block doesn't want to join them?

It's no secret that Kirill is Putin's little bitch, that's a well accepted fact and Russians insist that their patriarch takes orders from Putin. There is only one tsar.

NATO needs to be strong and project that strength, this is a check that their mouth can write and their ass 110% can cash. I'm glad their balls dropped and they are less afraid about escalating or provoking monke god, it's the only language it speaks.

Honestly, may be it's just me, I know a lot of Catholics who are strong, who are educated to defend their faith and aren't push overs. We just need more of them.

Can anyone tell of the based boomer in this video is Russian or Ukrainian?

vid titled "decommunisation let it burn" in Ukrainian

Dude burns Soviet Army automotive forces, sergeant ranked uni and his Communist Youth ID.

I believe that back in USSR when you served 2 years, if you weren't stupid and kept up to it, you could finish 2 years of service in sergeant's rank.

I don't know, I feel said though. It's a relic. Hang it in the closet for your kids. He served, if he didn't stain his hands with blood he has no reason to be ashamed of doing his duty well. We were brainwashed and communism now seems more hated than ever, but you can't burn the fact that some our grandfathers served under the red army banners. I was in Commie Youth, we believed in defense of our people and country. We learned many lies, but there are still parts of that idealistic commie youth in me still, will always be.

Better than hanging on the words of a cucked commie that can't decide whether or not he's pro-NATO or pro-Russian today.
The problem is, Protestantism is where most of the atheists come from. They see the endless arguing over the Bible between different sects that each have their own view; since Protestantism's only foundational religious document is the Bible, and they have no other religious anchors, the religion ends up looking like a mess, with leaders arguing over what part of the Bible to take literal and what to ignore, and people get confused and leave. The majority of "new" atheists during the 2000s were from Protestant circles; people who were tired at all the religious bickering and emotional appeals to religion that crumble when things go bad.

That, and a good chunk of the Protestants, especially in the USA, also simp for Putin; many of the die-hard evangelicals who are staying on for the long term simp for Putin because they're convinced that GLOBOHOMO is the biggest evil in the world.

At least with the Pope, he was trying to play both sides to get the Russians to the peace table and end the war, and when that didn't work, he reverted back to "FUCK RUSSIA" mode and called Kirill Putin's little bitch altar boy.

the current pope is a bit of a crypto-commie (being from latin america its was to be expected) and as such he instinctively sides with an oppresive regimes against it victims, so it's understandable. But the Church is bigger than one Pope, and the only opinions of his that matter are those of the Faith. The Church will manage to survive one lame Pope. Tbh I dont even know why he had to spout this crap, all that was expected of him was to call all sides to stop war immediately and pray for peace, and call the world to assist in humanitarain help, that is all, the easiest fucking stance in politics you can get.
That's what he started off doing; he started off calling for peace and waving Ukrainian flags. Then he tried to appeal to the Russians to get them to the peace table. When that didn't work, he reverted back to chewing out the Russians and even insulted their Patriarch by doing so, which means any clout he might have gained from them for blaming the war on NATO is now gone.

Playing both sides never works out in the end.

It's no secret that Kirill is Putin's little bitch, that's a well accepted fact and Russians insist that their patriarch takes orders from Putin. There is only one tsar.
It's the way the Pope said it that insulted the Russians. Calling Kirill Putin's "altar boy" was a rather sharp insult.

NATO needs to be strong and project that strength, this is a check that their mouth can write and their ass 110% can cash. I'm glad their balls dropped and they are less afraid about escalating or provoking monke god, it's the only language it speaks.
NATO needs to go into overdrive now that they have Putin's Russia by the balls.

Honestly, may be it's just me, I know a lot of Catholics who are strong, who are educated to defend their faith and aren't push overs. We just need more of them.
We definitely need more of them. And we also need more Orthodox Christians who aren't afraid to stand up to Putin's little altar boy.

Burning Soviet junk is their way of sticking it to Russia, which simps for the USSR and its Communist past. How such a country can be construed as Christian is beyond me.

I suppose even the Commies do something right now and then.

There are people who disagree with sending the gypsies to the happy fun campss? Fo fucks sake why?

There are people who disagree with sending the gypsies to the happy fun campss? Fo fucks sake why?
Gypsies themselves would probably object ... lol. There are different kinds though, some settle down, some still travel like it's middle ages. There is a whole lot that are hardly gypsies anymore.

The thing about Shariy though, it's NOT the case of simply jailing opposition view. He has been blogging pro-Russia and paid big sums of money from "uncertain" sources. He also ran a political party Shari's Party that actually had some representation in Ukraine (was given gov allowance, like to any legit party) and his party members have been gun-ho pro-Russians who had advocated unconstitutional overthrow of power etc. If SBU has evidence that it wasn't just his opinion but he was paid money by Russians to destroy Ukrainian state, that's probably what "treason" charges are about, not dissenting ideas.

One lithmus test for pro-Russian trolls is that periodically there is a message that needs to be spread out and it seems that every single russian shill would post the same message, verbatim and try to spread it. There is ample evidence to this and I've seen it come from Sharij.

He should have his day in court, and he will. Poroshenko came back to Ukraine despite the charges hanging over him and he is fighting that in court.

Pro-Russian blogger Anatoly Shariy praises Hitler, gas chambers, calls for the destruction of national minorities and homosexuals.
Well that just makes him a independent free thinker who doesn't slurp up western propaganda, now if he called Putin an ape and expressed a belief that Ukraine should be independent then he's a dangerous nazi war criminal.

I've met plenty of former Catholic atheists. They tend to be just as insufferable as other atheists. I've also met many "Catholics" who might as well have been atheists, for how good that religions does them. Also, pretty sure that Catholiscm's foundational religious document is also the Bible, or at least claimed to be.

That, and a good chunk of the Protestants, especially in the USA, also simp for Putin; many of the die-hard evangelicals who are staying on for the long term simp for Putin because they're convinced that GLOBOHOMO is the biggest evil in the world.
I actually really haven't seen that. Mostly its been calls for prayers for Ukraine, prayers for a quick end to the war, or support for the Ukrainians. Only the talking heads on the internet seem to be simping for Putin or calling for isolationist "we mustn't get involved" rhetoric. Like John Daniel Davidson. I will never not shit on this guy for his constant defeatist faggotry).

Playing both sides never works. All he has succeeded in doing is ticking off everyone.

Their government fucking sucks ass though and Zelensky is globohomo muppet.
Yes, Ukraine is both globohomo and nazi. Maybye all nazies are homo?

. Vote out the overly pro-Russian government democratically
Are a fucking ten year old to belive in a un-rigged elections under prorussian govenrment? ALL of this was started in 2003 after a failed election fraud by pro-russian fraction lead by Yanukowich!

In my mind, their best course of action as a nation and a people was to ignore the US whispers in their ear in 2013/4 and remain a neutral state
Russia after collapse of Soviet Union had wars with neutral states, invaded even they allies. They never invaded any NATO country. So it is a natural for all countries near Russia to go into NATO for their own safety.

No it isn't. The Bible is just one of Catholicism's foundational religious documents; things like the Didache and the teachings of the Church Fathers were just as important, making it so that you can't just interpret the Bible 5 ways to Friday the way Protestants do. You have to interpret the Bible in a way that stands in favor of traditional Church teachings, which keeps the Church stable.

That, and most of the big-name atheists I know were formerly Protestant, and the majority of atheists during the 2000s attacked the "Bible-only" culture of the Protestant church. If you looked at atheist attacks on Christianity in the 2000s, most of it is aimed at the Protestant culture that is centered around the Bible. Sure, you get the odd sex joke regarding Catholic priests molesting altar boys, but that's minor compared to their incessant attacks on Protestantism, and how many of them despised being Christians in the past, which naturally points to most of them being former Protestants.

I actually really haven't seen that. Mostly its been calls for prayers for Ukraine, prayers for a quick end to the war, or support for the Ukrainians. I've seen a lot of it; especially among the evangelical/non-denominational branch that wants to fuck with the Left at all costs. So when they see the Left waving Ukrainian flags and calling for Putin's downfall, they automatically signed on with the western Russia simps, and many of them were western Russia simps even before the war because "MUH CHRISTIAN RUSSIA".

Playing both sides never works. All he has succeeded in doing is ticking off everyone.
My point exactly.

Yes, Ukraine is both globohomo and nazi. Maybye all nazies are homo?
Well, some of them were. The SA were homosexuals, and Hitler had them all killed, then he eventually turned against all homosexuals and shoved them into concentration camps.

Are a fucking ten year old to belive in a un-rigged elections under prorussian govenrment? ALL of this was started in 2003 after a failed election fraud by pro-russian fraction lead by Yanukowich!
Don't you get it, though? All pro-Russian elections are "democratic" while the anti-Russian demonstrations and elections were "rigged by the CIA".

Russia after collapse of Soviet Union had wars with neutral states, invaded even they allies. They never invaded any NATO country. So it is a natural for all countries near Russia to go into NATO for their own safety.
Russians can't figure out why the nations that don't want to be controlled by them go to NATO. They never even bothered to look at the mirror.

So basically, this guy was already on thin ice before getting the boot. If the feds didn't move in on him, I'm sure some civilians would have blown his head off, suspecting him of aiding Russia.

One lithmus test for pro-Russian trolls is that periodically there is a message that needs to be spread out and it seems that every single russian shill would post the same message, verbatim and try to spread it. There is ample evidence to this and I've seen it come from Sharij.
That's why it's so funny to suddenly see people who once agreed with Nazis on many things suddenly use the term "Nazi" as a pejorative. They're all taking their talking points from Moscow propaganda. And these people call Ukrainian supporters NPCs. These guys make NPCs seem positively human.

Not going to get into this debate here since that would just derail this thread.

I see that as mostly the Left's fault, however. They've spent years screaming about "Muh Russia" in regards to Trump, and have, via their constant switching to supporting whatever the new "thing" to support was on any given day, trained many on the right to reflexively oppose them on any given issue, or at least cynically attack them on their lack of true commitment to any given subject.

Take it to a PM. We can talk more there.

I still despise them for it. They should have enough critical thinking skills to know that Putin's Russia isn't the glorious holy land they see it as.

Using that argument though, with everyone the US invades, what if China tried to buddy up with Mexico and move military bases to our border. How do you think that would go? You think the US would "respect the sovereignty" of Mexico?

I think a lot of people just aren't wrapping their heads around the fact that NATO = US Military. Why wouldn't Russia find that threatening? Especially considering how we have publicly said our goal is to destroy Russia, and even put the blueprint out on how we're going to do it, using provocations from Ukraine.

And now with the Biden Crime Family back in charge, everyone knew where we were headed with this, including Putin. There is a lot of money to be made in Ukraine, extracted from middle class US taxpayers, using Ukrainian blood.

The difference is, Russia's neighbors want to sign up with NATO, because the west provides more economic opportunities and freedoms than Russia and its satellite states. Mexico doesn't want to sign on with China, especially since China isn't going to send them endless tons of arms and missiles in the odd case the USA attacked. China isn't going to spend that much to keep the Yankees out, whereas the USA is literally pouring in a fortune to stop Russia's advance in Ukraine. The most China would do is debt-trap the Mexicans with the Belt and Road initiative, which would just end with Mexicans protesting to get rid of any pro-Chinese politicians. Then all the Yankees would have to do is send guns to said protesters, (LOL they already sent guns into Mexico before) and voila, a pro-American government now rules Mexico.

the more technology advances, the less effective human wave memes become.
it is one thing to throw a human wave at wehrmacht soldiers that are carrying bolt action mauser rifles with 5 round internal magazines. it is an entirely different thing to throw human waves at ukr soldiers who are carrying select fire assault rifles (AKs and malyuks) with removable box mags that hold 30 rounds each.
That and the only demographic crisis the USSR had was "too many mouths to feed", not modern Russia's "declining birthrates and shrinking population".

Mutual assured destruction fuck man
Mutually Assured Destruction means Russia doesn't use nukes in the first place.

Putting the works of Man on the same level as the works of God is exactly why Catholicism tends towards idolatry.

A bunch of Ukrainian channels and news sites reporting this but link to Russian AG isn't loading for me, so I'll add a bit of salt here, especially that sounds almost like joke, but then what's not about Russia these days.

Prosecutor of Nenets Autonoumous Disrtict put forward charges about mass desertion, for the conscript servicemen. Presented evidence shows that 295 servicemen refused to follow orders of their platoon commander and willingly left the battlefield which made tactical operation fail.

... so RF platoon is usually 50-60 people full strength and commanded by a lieutenant. 295 people is more like a battalion tactical group, so typically a major should be in charge. Sounds plausible if command post got nuked and left over lieutenant wanted to do something retarded, I can see a bunch of dudes say fuck it and just take off. We'll see if there is more news on it.

Also military tribunal usually works on desertion cases that are started by local, civ AGs where conscripts are coming from (since usually that's where they go back to) so that also passes sniff test.

That report comes from 2019, 5 years of toothless sanctions against Russia so that they leave their friggin neighbors alone. Russians didn't just annex Crimea and invaded Donbas, they were constantly stirring shit up.

I know that most people don't pay attention, but Russia/Vlad has been fucking with Ukraine for 8 long years. You fuck around, you find out. The real issue is that for 8 years Ukrainians could not really do shit beyond complaining, but Vlad did plenty, fucking up infrustructure, destroying Crimea, persecuting civic leaders and opposition in Crimea and Donbas. All the weak signals, such as weak sauce sanctions just emboldened Vlad to go further.

As always, poor Russia. They are trying to fuck over their neighboors and everyone is threatening them and help the neighbor to fight against them.
