I imagine its used in the Guardian article to make fun of the whole beergate situation with the writer's view point that they're trying to find a skeleton in Starmer's closest but for Jim I imagine he does it because he's a manchild.

It then polluted social media and YouTube a few years later at Halloween, growing into animations and songs, and refuses to go away every Halloween thereafter. Even "Crimbo" has fucked off in the meantime. To be fair to Jimbo, he's not the only old man online still using it unironically ironically. The basic rundown is that they've been pushing to invest in NFTs and they have stated that they are looking for ways to make money to invest in doing so.
