How's about instead of looking for superficial diversity, why not just make fun, unique characters? Oh wait, that's not politically correct anymore. I feel like this tool could be useful without the wokeness if it tracked different parameters like upbringing or beliefs, and compared with other characters' values to produce diversity values. For example, if one character held belief A and another held belief B, they would have 100% in value diversity. If both characters held the same belief it would have a lower value.

If our country falls apart for other reasons, then any culture war grievances will be a moot point if we don't have a country in the first place.

At least the author's other children's books are about staying safe around strangers and not letting adults touch you inappropriately. This one seems to cover some of the same topics, but of course has the other stuff too. Perhaps experienced parents might be able to tell me otherwise, but 4 seems a bit young to be learning about puberty and gender equality. After all, there's quite a big maturity difference between 4 and 8.

Now, this I hate. It's just a way of streamlining the corporate diversity-for-its-own-sake agenda, except instead of box-ticking, now it's radar graphs.

I suppose they'll look good in team meetings where you talk about how diverse your project's cast is. But it's only going to lead to the "diverse" attributes of the characters becoming even more routine and uncreative than they already are.

Yep and it's a crying shame too.

I've seen it mentioned before on this website and elsewhere that people could possibly be brought together if common struggles were emphasized over petty ones like racism, sexism, etc. I like to believe that could indeed be possible, but it would take a lot of work to make it happen.

Quick anecdotal story: I actually tried to discuss this with SJWs years ago who were also fellow activists. It was disheartening being told that I'm an evil racist bigot because I suggested we try to focus on things that whites and minorities have in common. These were other whites too. Self-hating white liberals who thought not focusing on our differences was bad. For instance, one of my suggestions was to look at how income inequality affects blacks and whites alike. Nope. That's racist! Why not educate people on how issues like free speech or privacy affects everyone? Nope. That's also racist! There was no winning with these assholes.

Thanks for hearing me out again. I hate to put it this way, but sometimes this thread is a little personally triggering just because it reminds me of my wasted years as a well-meaning but misguided liberal activist. It's my own fault though. Never again...

A study that was probably done looking at race and gender only, and no other variables, and then coming to the conclusion that white male characters are the dominant (possibly only!) reason these games sold. Not only is there a ton of additional factors about these characters, there is also gameplay, graphic, storyline, marketing and many other factors that contribute to amount of games sold.

Once again, for all their talk of TRUST THE SCIENCE and THE SCIENCE IS SETTLED, woke sjws show they have zero idea what confound and extraneous variables are, and completely ignore their own confirmation bias. Literally class number 1 in any research methods or basic statistics course. Everything has to be discrimination, there's not even any other possibility in their minds.
