Difficult to quantify such a thing, really. I don't know whether I, or Ivan, are suffering more due to the current state of things. The fact I'm feeling the burn at all, for no tangible benefit to myself, is cause enough for concern.

You make a good point about relying on the supposed value for the ruble, it's just a quick and easy thing to toss out. I just suspect that they aren't feeling the sanctions nearly as bad as the western propaganda outlets like to say, given partnerships with other countries and the "sanction-hardening" they've been able to practice with for years now.

I agree also that it is difficult to quantify, and maybe even in an objective "change in price of x is greater here or there" they could be suffering more, it's really hard to know. But suffering on their end is balanced against having an actual why. Any sanction pressure that is actually felt is a consequence of a course of action that is in the interest of their people and their nation and possibly even family or friends in the breakaway regions. Negative impacts on us have absolutely no counter-balance.
