It was a friend of mine back in high school. She got a really bad haircut, and I do mean really bad. I think she was trying to be an edgy punk-ish chick, but it just made her look terrible, and she was very tall and wasn't particularly comely to begin with. She constantly got misgendered while growing out her hair- mostly from behind because she had big boobs- and it really hurt her. Like, she'd break down crying. That said, we were 15 years old. I'm still friends with her and I'm 99.9% sure she's grown up enough that if that happened now she wouldn't give a fuuuuuuck. I really think this kind of thing only affects people with an underdeveloped sense of self - like 15 year old girls and the adult men LARPing as them.
Trannies love to talk about how women's trauma is their problem and how natal women should work on their innate responses/gut reactions to trannies rather than Trannies leaving them alone - why is it our problem they get their feefees hurt when they get misgendered? Shouldn't they work on their trauma response and grow some fucking skin?

Alternative theory: they may legitimately believe that killing fetuses is murdering babies. They also may wish to convince others that they're correct.

This about sums it up. Since Kevin is incapable of taking pride in a job well done, he thinks of academics, and by extension the school system, as a prison designed to confine children who could better spend their time playing video games. It's the exact same mindset that the children themselves hold, with the crucial difference that the children abandon it as soon as they stop being 12 years old. Unfortunately for Kevin, he seems to have made up his mind when he was 12 to stay that way forever, from his worldview to his personal circumstances.

Kevin's probably worse. Studies have consistently shown that children of all ages and backgrounds prefer teachers who care about their education and reinforce their learning to teachers who ignore them and let them do whatever they want. Even student directed learning doesn't leave the students alone it merely allows them to choose their way down the path instead of adhering to a one-size-fits-all model for the entire classroom/school.
What's the number one thing teachers love to complain about? Parents who don't care and don't participate in the process.
Taking away a kids cell phone and sticking it in a drawer and forgetting about it may not be a best practice but Kevin is jumping from that to opposing education altogether.

Strangely, Kevin fucking forgot that investing 500$ to 2000$ into a fursuit is something most poor people don't have and can't bum off their twitter followers. Getting a custom made designer suit and tie that fits you and is your exact specifications on style and color is both a fursuit thing.... AND a rich man thing. That's 500 to 2000$ that could have gone to other communities of queers, the homeless population of adult and child lgbt, a nice community like the tranch (*snort*), or maybe an Native reservation. Last one just randomly popped into my mind.
We can't justify giving 500$ to one queer when we could give that to a food bank for other queers, dipshit. And I'm only arguing queer and not all poor people because you might as well not fucking exist if you're not queer, even if you're PoC.

I used to work as a collections representative speaking with customers about their car loan payments over the phone. Customers would speak to me like they were talking to a female rep on a semi-frequent basis. Initially I was surprised and a little ticked because I thought my voice over the phone sounded obviously male. I got over it pretty quick because getting miffed at a customer who called you "ma'am" doesn't get them to make their payment and get off the phone any faster. I look back at the customers who refereed to me as a woman with curiosity more than anything else

A) Everything counts as consumerism (including bespoke fursuits) because consumption is consumption and there are no ethics. So you can buy as many Transformers as you want guilt free.

B) There IS some sort of virtuous consumption under capitalism according to Kevin, as long as you support the right people in your mind. Then it doesn't count as consumerism.
