I note this particular inter-party conflict because I do agree with the party activists that this is hypocrisy. Mahoney's job is to defend Democrats in vulnerable seats, and he's choosing to abandon his D+2 seat (which will likely go to a Republican this year as a result) to fight a Progressive for control of a seat that's only slightly less vulnerable.

The real battle this election is not left vs right. It is between far-left and centre-left.
Any centrist DNC candidate that focuses on winning over the GOP candidate deserves to be unseated and replaced by a far-left progressive.

I mean, the whole idea of "you can be an amazing mom, a super worker and still have plenty of you time" has always been a bit of nonsense. Because if you could do all three comfortably, why wouldn't men be doing that as a rule?
The original dynamic was that you prioritised two of the three, male or female. Dads or at least the position prioritize the worker, and then do a split to a firm preference for the parenting. Moms tended to focus on being moms, and either got their free time or had a part time on the side. You manage it right, and you both don't go completely stir crazy or leave your kid neglected.
