Metal Gear

People just need to drop it. If Konami had a complete chapter 3 that would require them giving a shit about metal gear.
I'm actually surprised their twitter kept pushing nuclear disarmament statistics and stuff.

But it was very clearly just bullshit to keep up engagement. Why the fuck would Konami maintain some sort of "deal" with Kojima after their big falling out to release major content only if people did this impossible task instead of just...selling it?

Thanks to the Duke Nukem Forever leaks, I learned today that MGS 1 started development on the 3DO, and Policenauts files had early concept art I never saw before

You're starting to see why I have a general disdain for Kojima fanboys. They're all unhinged basement dwelling retards who hold the guy to such a high standard that when he said he didn't want to keep making MGS games they lost their collective shit.

Why would a "hater" be *that* obsessed with him coming back to direct the game? Wouldn't a hater want someone else to direct the series at that point?

Also, Sessler has never been the voice of gaming and often complained about anything if it made a good skit. He also thought Gone Home was GOTY, do you think that was also the general opinion of the gaming community at large?
B b b but redemption arc at da game awardszzzzzzzzzzz

Konami isn't shit but still
Inserting himself into his games only adds to his pretentious nature and its not the like Stan Lee cameo fun you expect from a dumb superhero flick.

I like 4 and 5, sure they have flaws. but I feel that Kojima had fun making them instead of being dragged screaming because he doesnt want to. I feel like he put a lot of his ideas for other games into MGS.

4 had sneaking around active battlefields and had some verticality in it in specially in Act 1. And the Gekkos were fun. sadly the faction system was not fleshed out, probably because of lack of technical knowhow, programming prowess or whatever. If 4 was basically a big Act 1 with lots of Gekkos, it will be a very fun game.

5 was the evolution of Peacemaker/PO. it was really fun, most of the useless items in other MGS really shine in this game like the box. I feel like it could use more elements from Death Stranding. Like the helicopter drops you miles from the mission and you have to trek it with your packages/weapons.

This feels *especially* apparent in MGS4, Peace Walker and V. Almost as if he wanted to stop making MGS games, but the fanbase (and Konami) wouldn't let him so he just said "fuck it, I'll do what I want" both in gameplay and weird story themes/ideas.

To this day I still fantasize about a prequel set even before MGS3 wherein you play as The Boss stealthing your way through battlefields and occupied territory in WW2. The Cobra unit could play a major role, it could be a story about some nazi super weapon conspiracy or whatever but with your usual MGS twists along the way. They could take a lot of creative liberty with the story and treat it as the Boss's own self contained exploits that resulted in her reputation and philosophies shown in MGS3. Maybe she's tasked with carrying out a huge betrayal at some point that is extremely personal and morally messed up for her, but she ultimately decides her duty is to the mission. The possibilities are endless. If only... *sigh*

I've had this exact thought; it'd make so much sense, it'd be fun, and it'd be such a perfect framework to hang conspiracy/weirdness/whatever Kojima wants to say about War/big titties on. Retcons could easily be chalked up to "well, everything from then was super classified, and what we heard from The Boss/Zero was their own point of view."

Also if you fail to romance The Sorrow, you get a TIME PARADOX.

I can remember almost every magazine interview after 3 (maybe even 2) Kojima either saying (paraphrasing) "I want this to be my last one because I want to do other things" and/or "I wasn't involved at first but for one reason or another I came back to direct." Whatever the reason it was clear he didn't want to develop MGS games for the rest of his life.

I've finished my playthrough of MGS2, and since I was using the V's fix version of the PC port, I feel it's perfectly acceptable.
However, The video cutscenes wound up broken after a while and froze on certain images. Oh, well. All the more reason why a PlayStation 3 is the best platform to play most of the Metal Gear games on!

Oh, and I'm now off to play Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Yes, after Solid 2, it's basically choose your own adventure; you can go forward in time to wrap up Solid Snake's story and end the Patriots once and for all in Solid 4 and find out what happened to Raiden and other characters after Solid 4 in the actionized spin-off/epilogue Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, or you could go back in time with the more comedic 60s spy homage Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and discover the origins of Big Boss. I chose the former to see what becomes of everyone now that the Patriots and their AIs are ready to enact their plans for global domination, and also because I had a pretty bad first time with Solid 3.

I know that from Solid 3 onwards, you have to think like a predator, so we'll see how this playthrough goes.

Back again. Just want to tell you that not only am I slowly adapting to the predatorial gameplay, but Solid 4 is fantastic. It's probably much better and more refined than Solid 3 (from what I remember), and in terms of the "Patriots Storyline" (aka. Solid 1, 2 and 4) 4 is probably the second best behind 2 and above 1. I mean, the bunker section in the first act/Middle east section is just so much fun, picking off enemies with your rightfully acquired Silenced Operator and Tranq Gun and avoiding others.

Also, OctoCamo is the best addition to the post-Solid 3 gameplay formula.

I'm pretty sure it's because the face model is based off Naked Snake and not Solid Snake so he has Nakeds beard instead of Solid's shitty scruff. (I think they're noses are supposed to be different too, and arguably their cheek definition)
