Fiction can affect reality, but fiction's effect on reality is much smaller than reality's effect on fictional works. For example there are many films and video games inspired by wars in history (reality). Fictional Propaganda media was a warped view of reality and people saw themselves as greater and better in it.

Also - "Jaws" influenced how people perceive sharks.

There are/were barely any Jews in Japan but antisemitism spiked there due to the popularization of Shakespear's "Merchant of Venice".

Also - the whole idea of propaganda art. It's fiction with a tremendous impact on reality.

I think people tend to forget that art and storytelling has always been made to influence people and their behaviour - teach us morality and what is accepted and what is not. Now a lot of people deny it just because they get their kicks from fucked up content. Even if something doesn't influence a person per se, the media they consume/create are a great mirror of societal tropes and their own views and/or vices.

Being profiction is essentially just accepting problematic (however fictional) depictions such as pedophilia, zoophilia, rape, necrophilia, and so on. You can also include gore but I think that's widely accepted amongst the public as is.
