Yeah tbh I didn't even remember she appeared outside of the opening act and then I remember in discussion after MoM that she does in fact help protect Strange's body when he's doing some astral projection stuff. Not that that's a judgement on the actor's performance I remember her as doing a fine job in both movies but I certainly wouldn't recognize her as that character outside the context of a marvel movie and I wouldn't consider Bebblebick Cumbybumble as letting some of his star power "shine on her" over it.

If they REALLY wanted to make the stretch that this relatively minor Aquaman role is worth a ton in speculative damages they should've pointed to Natalie Portman reprising her relatively unpopular role as Jane (as Lady Thor) in the new Thor. However Lady Thor is (as far as I'm aware) a pretty recent character with breakout success in the actual print comics and there's no way to predict that Heard's characters comic equivalent would have that sort of breakout success.

As a layman I can't say how baffling I find Elaine's performance. Even the best are not perfect at their jobs and relative to title/experience I agree with Nick and co that Vasquez is the star of the plaintiff's council and even she's had a few slips here and there (despite generally bouncing back well from those moments), but Elaine is SO BAD. She lacks charisma, she lacks argumentative skill and she clearly lacks brainpower as well! The fact that she so clearly relies on a crutch she identified that she'll whine "Well, what if anything!" at the judge when met with an objection is unreal to me (nevermind that the judge let's her do it).
Natalie Portman is not comparable to Amber Heard either. Natalie was a star in three Star Wars movies and had a career before those movies as well. Her sheer star power is what allowed her to bully Marvel into ruining Thor 2. Lady Thor is incredibly, almost universally, despised in the comics. I would be surprised if it's actually good for her career to get the position in the movies except that people remember she's in Thor again.

Some people have pointed out that Elaine is a civil attorney, and it could be she's got extremely little trial/court experience. This is a really difficult case for anyone to fight (on Amber's side) so this may not be entirely Elaine's fault - more Amber for picking the wrong attorney. I believe at one point the judge actually said 'what if any isn't a cure-all' when she overused it.

Yeah, I came back to post exactly this sentiment. Why is this milquetoast nerd being allowed to just body Heard's attorney directly into the time clock? They aren't really scoring any hits against King Autist, and definitely not enough to justify burning up all these minutes!

It must be Amber demanding they defend her social media honor or something.
His rebuttal testimony on direct gave their entire tweet analysis a no-lube sodomy. They basically have to find some way to discredit him.

I don't believe for a second this man is capable of lying to cover for Johnny Depp. I'm quite sure the reason he didn't bother to follow the trial is because it's not following his personal politics. And I suspect the jury would come to this conclusion immediately without needing to look at his twitter feed. Not a good thing for Amber. You don't want an antagonistic witness to come off as 'absolutely truthful' to the jury.

This psychiatrist guy has a very soothing voice. Like he's a guy you'd trust rather implicitly with all his fancy PHDs and awards on frames on his office wall.

Very relaxing, calm testamony which the Heard team have nothing to object to.

I shit on Nick a lot early on because how how bad the solo streaming was but legalbytes has really fallen into the too many guests issue. I like Andrea and Kurt but them being on such a big panel means i am less likely to watch. Of course this is moot today because Branca is on Nick's stream and you have to watch it.

Why the hell did Elaine think it was a good idea to get the trailer park guy's "That never happened, Amber was the one acting all jealous and crazy" tweet into evidence? That's an own goal if I've ever seen one.
Incomprehensible rage over TUG, apparently. She's convinced that Depp sent Waldman to hook up with social media people to start a campaign and that person is TUG, who then hand-picked the soyman. Honestly, TUG taking credit for the witness will probably only enrage her more after court today.

Right after, Elaine asked if he was sitting at the campfire with them all night, so I actually feel like the whole entire thing might have just been to try to impeach his statement about being "with them all night."

Stupidest decision ever though, because I'm pretty sure the jury understands that statements like "I was with them all night" isn't meant to be 100% literal and I doubt that it really affects the credibility that they give his statement about Amber being the crazy one. So why would they put that in evidence?!

And yeah, TUG obviously chafes Heard's ass, but if they're trying to suggest that there's bias because TUG's tweet happened to be the one that this guy replied to, I think they're barking up the wrong tree.

That's been the story of almost all the witnesses. Compare

Dr. Muffins vs the dumpy karen looking doctor
Dr. Shaw vs Dr. Lurch
Richard Marks vs the lady who didn't know anything about movies.
Even the nerdy numbers guy looks like you could have perfectly normal and interesting conversations before delving into D&D.

Not only do Depp's witnesses feel more competent and trustworthy, they are often more attractive than their counterpart on Heard's side.

Kurt can be trying. He has such a shit personality and his cadence is annoying.

Branca and Nick are just the right mix. Branca is good with the one liners.

Is "the umbrella man" in the room with us Elaine?
