T-62s were indeed spotted in Melitopol in a train, but there's no proof they're being deployed yet. Personally they may be used as decoys but not much else. If Russia really wanted to deploy outdated tanks, they have more than enough base T-72s to throw away that they could just slap Kontakt-5 or Relikt on and be mildly effective. Going to be interesting to see how these get used, if they even do. Note also the apparent lack of invasion markings when all Russian tanks being moved by train so far have had them. Very odd.

In any case, even if they see combat, it will most definitely not be in the front lines (it simply has no value as such due to no ERA or modern armor, an RPG can disable it). Some theorize that they're to be given to the DPR/LPR but those guys have been getting T-72B3s from the Russians in steady supply and supplementing them with captured UA tanks, not to mention that they're nowhere near Zaporizhia.

I do wonder if Mariupol falling is going to cause a domino effect across Ukraine or if it's just going to be this hard to take ANYTHING else that's not a minor city.

Decoys? I'd have thought they'd just use the traditional inflatable tank (or other mockup) for that sort of thing, rather than an actual piece of hardware like that.
My assumption would be that the LPR/DPR are getting shipped a bunch of T-62s for backline/security usage, or something of that sort.
