Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Let's see your theory of the United States Constitution, with references.

Everyone insults you because
  1. You insult them first
  2. You insult religious beliefs they may or may not have, but they respect them because our laws protect everyone's religious beliefs
  3. You assume facts about them that are based on nothing other than your imagination

You, and people like you, are the reason California is perpetually on fire, figuratively and literately. I'd tell you to go to hell but you're already there.

Nigger.
1.They insult me first, that is just what they do. I merely respond in kind.
2.Religious beliefs are not sacred on a fucking lolcow forum, get over yourself.
3.They are on A and N and I can ballpark the type, or by following the stickers. Its cutoff from the rest of the site for a reason.

What is it with jealous dumb Southies mad about the rich and prosperous Golden State? Jealousy methinks. Can't you shit on Idunno Michigan or something for once?

So let's all devolve our understanding of the world back to the fucking stone age so you can feel safe and secure in the knowledge that your kids are throwing rocks at each other instead of maybe hearing that two men kiss sometimes.
Grug had more useful life skills than our pudgy, soft soybug population could ever dream of. Your genes were passed on to you by hard motherfuckers who survived predators, famine, plague, war, and a whole host of other adversities.

Our current education system is made to funnel kids into the college grift, which is, in turn, a machine that *might* get you a wageslave job, which you will be stuck at for 30 years paying off the student loans.

I appreciate the humor, but I can back @Meat Target up. Our history was literally just brainwashing. The extent of my WW2 education was: Japs did pearl harbor, HOLOCAUST HOLOCAUST HOLOCAUST HOLOCAUST HOLOCAUST JEWS ARE VICTIMS JEWS ARE VICTIMS JEWS ARE VICTIMS, we nuked japan. That's not hyperbole to any extent, didn't talk about Japan beyond those two things, didn't even mention Italy, Europe, or Russia at all. Didn't mention anything about Germany aside from the Holocaust, not even how they got fucked over in WW1 because they didn't mention WW1 other than it happened. Glossed over the Cold War the same way.

To sum up, literally the entirety of my 20th century history from public schools was
-WW1 Happened
-Pearl Harbor/Nukes
-3 months dedicated to JUST the horrors of the Holocaust and literally nothing else about WW2 Germany
-Cold War happened
-US is evil and oppressed women and blacks

I wasn't not paying attention either, I had high grades. Frankly no education would've been better than the indoctrination we got.
IT's really startling just how far American public schools have fallen since the 1970's/80's.

JUNIOR HIGH in the US in a podunk town:

4 mandatory classes, 2 electives.
History
Math
P.E.
Science

You could take subsections if you got good grades in the first semester.

Electives were shit like wood shop, metal shop, auto shop, 4H, printing, graphic arts. You could Home-Ec or Microbiology instead of Science. For History you could take Current Events, Civics, Early American, Medieval.

Even in standard history, yeah, you heard HOLOCAUST HOLOCAUST HOLOCAUST but you didn't get to that until the end of WW2. Meanwhile you learned about the leadup, the embargoes, the Japanese invasion of Korea and Mainland China. You learned about Pearl Harbor and what it meant for the US. You learned all kinds of stuff, then the HOLOCAUST was covered after the Sacking of Berlin, when they also taught about the Nuremberg Trials. You then usually backtracked or had already learned about Europe's Age of Colonization, because you needed that to learn about what caused the UN involvement of Korea and how the US got pulled in.

You learned about slavery, from the fact the ships were European owned, largely brought slaves to southern FRENCH plantations. The leadup to the Civil War, various battles, then Reconstruction. You learned about the Indian Wars and how it ended with reservations. How both the Indians and the US government broke treaties. You also learned that the Indians were some hellacious atrocity committing fuckers right up there with 7th Cavalry. You learned about Westward Expansion and the Land Rush. You learned about how the Gold Rush was used to settle California and how the only people that made money were the guys selling shovels.

This was in a fairly backwoods area public school.

I wonder what happened to change everything...

Oh, and here's a quote that's a blatant misrepresentation of the facts:

What Is Not Part of the Department of Education’s Role?
In creating the Department of Education, Congress specified that:
No provision of a program administered by the Secretary or by any other officer of the Department shall be construed to authorize the Secretary or any such officer to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system, over any accrediting agency or association, or over the selection or content of library resources, textbooks, or other instructional materials by any educational institution or school system, except to the extent authorized by law. (Section 103, Public Law 96-88)
Thus, the Department does not
  • establish schools and colleges;
  • develop curricula;
  • set requirements for enrollment and graduation;
  • determine state education standards; or
  • develop or implement testing to measure whether states are meeting their education standards.*
These are responsibilities handled by the various states and districts as well as by public and private organizations of all kinds, not by the U.S. Department of Education.

They'll bold faced tell you this and ignore CRT and No Child Left Behind.

But, huh, I wonder what started destroying American schools?

Must have been those damn dirty Republicans and their unwillingness to fund schools with the taxes that wealthy liberal property owners refused to pay.

OK, but if we're being purely anecdotal, my history classes were nothing like this- in a pretty liberal state, and probably more recently taken than most users. Plus, I was an annoying, edgy little fucker that would have relished any opportunity to slam the course material.
I can't speak for states like California but I'm still involved in my county's school system, and the material is bog standard, almost boring shit. Unless you're in AP classes, you'll get the basic rundown on American history from early explorers to 'today', or more realistically, to around Busch Jr..
Whenever I hear stories about these useless woke classes I feel for the students, but I have a hard time believing they are as common as they're made out to be. I do online tutoring as well as local and haven't ever been asked or seen a question that would lead me to believe a student is in one of these courses. I would more likely point the finger at a handful of bleeding-heart liberal teachers than any overarching scheme or plot to turn kids into lefties.

Dude this isn't reality. You don't go outside so you think everyone on earth nowadays is some sad little soycuck libtard when that just isn't the case. I don't think there's any way to convince you of this if you're just a schizo.

I'm from California you dumb nigger, I moved to the East because it's 1000x better. Seethe, cope and dilate more.

Once again, parents don't know shit about history, which is kind of important for the political situation in the country. They don't know how to teach math or the sciences or anything important. And beyond that the point of school is to hear thoughts different from those of your parents, and to make friends and generally learn how to socialize with people who aren't related to you.
Most homeschooling is done in groups with a co-operative unit of parents teaching the subjects they're most comfortable with. Most parents went to public school and that's WHY they don't know shit about history.

"Teaching the subjects they're most comfortable with" yeah and schools are the worthless hugboxes, right? Parents are able to just not teach kids this shit if it goes against their 'personal beliefs' because the conservitard boomers think fact and belief are interchangeable.

I don't get your point.
And no, not worthless hugboxes, state-sponsored indoctrination with negative value.

Edit to reply to the edit you made after I replied:
What useful knowledge goes against fundie beliefs? If it's highly field-specific, they're either going to learn real quick or steer clear of the field because it doesn't mesh with their worldview.
And I was trying to say that "the history nerd teaches history" and the "engineer dad teaches math". Only someone who is literally retarded wouldn't be able to understand that. Someone like your average schoolteacher.

This shit fucking sucks. Prayers to these kid's families and friends.

I feel that something needs doing regarding investigating and pre-emptively stopping these potential shooters. Fuck, I dunno, I just hate it..
Please note when someone contacted police to say that some guy named Nikolas Cruz, was posting on social media that he wanted to be a "professional school shooter," the police were like "whatever it's a comment on the internet, and wouldn't be his real name anyway." But he was literally autistic, and using his real name to post shit like that. (He had an autism diagnosis, and his special interest was guns, and reading alt-right and MAGA shit.)

Are you a public educator?

There is no 'state sponsored indoctrination' you fucking moron, you can look at the curriculums in your state yourself. Just because one retarded textbook said math is racist doesn't mean the entire nation is teaching that.

You mean the one with the highest cost adjusted poverty rate in the country, and like the 3rd highest homelessness rate? Despite having the highest income tax? And also despite becoming prosperous back when it was run by Ronald Reagan?

If public school is great then there no better time to homeschool as majority of parents have been taught by a great public school, unless you think parents are retarded then that means public schools wasn't great and at that point what's the difference.
Public school doesn't teach kids how to teach their kids. No one person can know the information needed to teach over a decade of education to a kid.

The new policy is not waiting for SWAT to arrive. The first responding unit sets up and observes. They are waiting for between two to three other units to arrive so they can stop the shooter together.

Not one agency trains their officers to go in solo. The reason is that their are too many corners, nooks, doors, and hiding spaces. Not having another pair of eyes will get the lone officer killed.
It's frustrating when someone writes something that looks accurate but it is not

While I can't say that there are not departments out there that have the first arriving officer wait by policy or training I can definitively state that it's not right that "not one agency trains their officers to go in solo." Plenty do. Of course it's more dangerous, and is not ideal, but many places do not have backup that can arrive in a short amount of time. In a situation where children are literally being shot second-by-second, that's a ridiculous delay. In this particular scenario, arguably any delay over a few seconds (to get a rifle and plate carrier out) is a severe compromise. If a police department doesn't train its officers in solo-entry in exigent circumstances (hello, Parkland) just in case, it is doing them and their communities a disservice.

I know this based not only on external sources, but if I said that I am Paul Abbate, deputy director of the FBI, and have direct personal knowledge on this issue because I have undergone the training in question I'm afraid I might get canceled. I'm definitely not him sent to spy on kiwifarms btw.

An example of a Texas department's active shooter policy:

From the FBI:

1653525398603.png

"... the problem with waiting to assemble a team of officers is the time it takes for multiple officers to respond to the location of the active shooter incident. Law enforcement was unable to respond and assemble enough officers in time to stop the shooter at the inception of an incident. Response times vary among law enforcement agencies. An FBI study stated it can take up to 18 minutes for police to arrive. The same research showed that 70% of active shooter incidents have a duration of less than five minutes[1]. By gaining an understanding of law enforcement response time and the general short duration of an active shooter incident, the tenets of IARD needed to change. Law enforcement leaders and trainers tried to balance the need to respond and intervene as quickly as possible to stop the threat, while maintaining an adequate level of officer safety. To address this need, the training concept of offering front line officers “tactical options” was introduced.

This provided officers with tactics and training which instilled the confidence needed to make the decision to provide life-saving intervention if people are still being attacked when the first officer arrives. This concept was not immediately accepted by many law enforcement trainers who believed multiple officers were needed to stop an active shooter.

Recent active shooter incidents in our schools have demonstrated the need for immediate intervention by the first responding officer. In some cases, such as the Great Mills High School and Dixon High School active shooter incidents, the lone officer was able to immediately intervene into the incident by engaging the shooter with his firearm and stopping the active shooter. In other incidents, such as the Trolley Square Mall active shooter incident, the off-duty, single officer engaged the shooter by drawing his firearm and identifying himself as a police officer. This resulted in the shooter focusing on the officer. These incidents demonstrate that action by a single officer can stop the shooter from inflicting additional casualties..."

And even before that, I learned more about world history playing Civilization 5 than I ever did in school. All history class was "Christians bad! Fedoras good! Hitler bad! Slavery bad! America bad! Slavery! Holocaust! Slaveocaust! Holovery!"

I have a habit of checking the sources I used for my reports in school and stumbled upon this book. While I was not able to using it my second year, I was able to use it in a presentation for my third year.

It broadens on the narrative of American slavery and posits that the treatment of slaves by others in this continent were far worse.
