Creative works you enjoyed until politics happened - "How politics made me hate Welcome to Nightvale and other things"

I can't be assed to find the chapter but when the ginger says house elves enjoy being slaves one of the books says something like "Hermione's green eyes flashed with anger" or some shit like that.

Blacks don't have green eyes unless they are extremely mixed and mostly white.

Way back in a simpler time when the sjw movement was mostly centered on blacks and not troons JK wanted reddit updoots so she said the bitch was black.
Rowling was heavily involved in the casting of the movies, she pretty much has veto power on anything relating to that IP which is rare for an author. She picked each of those white kids herself.

Point is the "I never said hermoine was white ;)" shit was absolutely asscrack pull shit that did not match up with around 2 DECADES worth of proof saying otherwise solely tied to people laughing in confusion about some harry potter play having a black woman play hermoine when all the other cast members looked like their respective characters.

I saw the original black woman play Hermione when I went to go see it (yes, yes. It's bad. This was the first year it was opened in London. Didn't realise at the time how bad) and you can sometimes do that 'colour blind casting for the best actor' excuse but the reality is? She wasn't that good of an actor. And in the alternate reality where Voldermort wins? It leans heavily into the Angry Black Woman trope when Hermione basically becomes Snape and bitter and angry. It already reeked of it with Hermione being kind of a brow beater wife as the Minister of Magic.

So. Hilariously unintentionally racist just a little bit. I have a really hard time believing there wasn't an appropriate white actor for Hermione and they were all awful in a country of 97 percent white people. They went through the pains of making the other actors look like the movie versions with Draco even channelling his father with longer hair. But yeah, no, black woman was the perfect fit for a white character.

I don't buy it. And it's clear it reeks of deliberate choice.

Edited to add: And to this day currently Hermione is still being played by a new actor who is also black. You can't say you were giving it to the best actor for the job when you hire another black actress for it.

now every game in that genre has been a CoD clone fore over a decade.
I might be out of the loop, but I thought all FPS games these days were either battle royale, GAAS looter shooters, or boomer shooters?

I know gen-x Nintendo fans like Moviebob still shake their fist at Call of Duty, but CoD hasn't been CoD since they started adding jetpacks and robots. Isn't the latest one a battle royale game?

What can I say, you're correct, I didn't even keep up with the genre enough to realize that. CoD/Gears of War was the hot shit like a decade ago, now everything tries to be E-Sports Battle Royale Looter Shooter shit.

The problem still stands: Most FPS games are insanely formulaic and boring.

Normally I'd point people towards Indies, but for every Gunfire Reborn or Deep Rock Galactic out there, games with a modicum of originality, there are at least twenty particle-effect-a-pallooza faux-retro boomer-shooters clogging up the drain. So even the indies are compromised by dumbass trends.

I made myself stop liking some things because politics ruined them for me, but the few things I still like are animal crossing and other gay fag shit like that and pokemon. I only say pokemon because I've been playing and collecting the games since I was a kid and they're now worth like $2,000.

All of my other interests are too niche and gay/edgy to be affected by politics.

...said Dungeons & Dragons fanboys until 2015 or so.
I was never embarrassed about having a shelf full of D&D books. I went through the Satanic panic with them, one of my school teachers told another student that I was messed up in the head for liking D&D. I had to see TV movies like Mazes and Monsters, Cruel Doubt, and talk shows talking about how it was a doorway to Satanism. None of it really phased me or diminished my interest.

Then it went woke. Now I regret buying all that stuff. I mean it's not like I threw the old books away, and I haven't played since I was a kid. I just think I would have been better off spending my money elsewhere when I was a kid.

See, that's exactly why you should keep these books. The new products might have the name, but they don't have the soul. And games are evergreen. Every book is a microcosm in and of itself. Anyone can crack open one of those books and play it, or just read it for entertainment/inspiration.

They only win when we all give up.

This one cuts deep. TTRP used to be such a creative and free hobby. The late 90s and early 00s were amazing. I hate to be like 'fake geeks' but legit. I don't think half the people who say they like DnD have any clue what exists beyond it.
You have Critical Role and a bunch of faggot socal voice actors to thank for this, by the way. Like everything else, the minute Californians get involved it all goes to shit.

At least with tabletop you ultimately have the power to eschew or include whatever the fuck you want. All my settings are some flavor of homebrew, they can remove racial traits or slavery or make every person in their setting a transgender otherkin but there's nothing stopping me from going 'that's gay' and adding it all back in, with an extra heaving helping of problematic storytelling just to really seal the deal.

Tie-in properties though... that's not shaping up so good. I was excited about the new Pathfinder game until I saw all the woke shit. I still haven't touched it. I miss when an RPG appealed to fat nerds like me and not fat dangerhair lesbians who don't buy these things anyway.

I think it was here where I heard the best DnD story where SJWs were bitching about gay marriage in a campaign, so the DM indulged them and let them go on an actually interesting story where the players raise a revolutionary army and engage in subterfuge to overthrow the King and enact an edict to legalise gay marriage.

As soon as they'd signed the decree, the DM then had the Army Of The Undead he originally wanted the campaign to centre around burst in, smash everything up and kill all the players.

You mean this one?

This actually happened in a campaign some friends from college ran. I only heard about it second hand. Though they related it more as something hilarious that happened and weren't indignant about it at all. Also, I don't think they overthrew the kingdom, just helped instate gay marriage.

The reason why Prog Rock sucks balls.

If you can't divorce present day politics from timeless art-
then your politics and art are shit.
