Mega Rad Gun Thread

I've got a small trivia. Props to any member who can guess the: Caliber and Type of Projectile. Of course there's no prize since it's pretty easy. I will give one hint though, you wont find this type of projectile on the street.

Is the tip color correct for NATO projectile types?
Also is it a commercial case or something funky?
Also found this on wikipedia.

What are you the fucking riddler or something?
It's a minor trivia within a gun thread. But yes, I've been known to create retarded riddles from time to time. This, however, should be really fucking easy to answer correctly.

The answer to the caliber question has mostly been answered by Puff. It is a 5.56x45mm NATO Experimental round. Can you tell me, based on the color, what projectile it is?

White is API, but idk what banded would mean. Also you're not going to be posting API on the kiwifarms if you have it.

Correct, you win. Yes It's API and yes its pre ban, so blah blah blah.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of modern man.
It's a pre ban projectile so there's no stupidity involved. This is now considered an antique.
So we were thwarted by expecting a hard question.
I provided a picture and a reference object to make this question rather easy so it wouldn't drag on for so long. I honestly expected maybe one of the first people to answer it correctly.

The explanation I've seen for those giant guns is that if soldiers fuck up their punishment is carrying giant props.
If you leave your weapon behind, you carry a giant gun. If you're caught using your cellphone, you carry giant cellphone.

That's so much work, in my day we just made people carry a cinder block around or something else really heavy.

saw a private get put on parking lot duty, ordered to get it dry.

sweeping up the entire thing alone with a mop.

during a rainstorm.

at Ft Polk.

edit: also i would bet some imaginative instructor had someone carry around a demonstration prop, but iirc all the oversized props i've worked with were for instructional purposes - if you're teaching a large of people the details of a mechanism or something, photos and drawings aren't always the best. some people work best with examples and cut-aways, and the easiest way to do that without needing a computer or slideshow or something is a wooden/plastic oversized prop. when running weapons familiarization for people, i've used similar props and made cutaways from drmo'd weapons (although they weren't oversized).

I was in maintenance & the training devices were generally static or too heavy/awkward/expensive to carry around, so the standard for retraining was with full water cans or toolbags w/ kettlebells (for mechanics who lost their tools or left them in the motorpark); except for after a dipshit private dropped one on his foot & broke it. I'm pretty sure he did it on purpose, and for a while after we could only use essays for that kind of corrective training.
