I'm sorry for the troon voicing the first video but I saw these two video a few weeks ago and my mind was blown. I also couldn't get into the first Half Life because of the shit audio quality. From what I understand GoldSrc has a limitation for the sample rate of sound files (except for gun sounds for some reason, that's why they don't sound so muddy compared to the rest) but there's a reverse engineered version of it called Xash3D which removes this limit, thus this mod will only work with it.
I was absolutely shocked with how fairly good the restoration of the voices was, I sincerely believed technology wouldn't ever evolve to such a degree we would one day be able to restore muddy compressed audio and make it sound nearly perfect, after all we always hear compression results in irreversible loss of information. It opens a ton of possibilities, games like GTA SA and most PS1/N64 era games which also have terribly compressed audio could benefit heavily from this.

Looks like he used iZOTOPE RX9 to attempt to reconstruct the destroyed sound data. Dude is dedicated to his craft, the full-fat version of that suite is $1200. It's good shit, though -- one of the workhorses for this kind of task.

this is not exacty directly Biden related but this thread is kind of general US politics sperging anyway
I had to call multiple goverment agencies this week so that meant I spent approximately a billion hours on hold and navigating phone trees. at some point during this purgatory it occurred to me: where is the WPA 2.0? If we printed a zillion dollars and if there is eleventy hundred percent unemployment *where is the minimum wage government worker to take my fucking call?*
I know the answer and so do most people reading this but it occurred to me that this is a good tack to take with your friends who still don't allow themselves to understand that the people running things hate them. All that "quantative easing" and *absolutely none of it in their hands.* Absolutely none of it going to create bullshit makework jobs. None of it is sloshing its way into improving their parks or their schools or their roads or their power grid.
I hate socialism so I don't even think that would be a good idea in the long term but even I have to admit it would be better for people than what we actually have.

I was not aware of this new sort of weaponization of Government Branches. This flew well and truly under my radar, FFL revocation will destroy small businesses. I'd like to say I'm outraged but I'm certain this is "normal". First they ban fracking and refuse to approve oil leases that were not grandfathered from the previous administration and now this; on top of every thing else. I legitimately feel that this administration is very very close to actual facism; well, closer than I'd like to see.

This is intentionally destroying the economy for....? I don't see it helping the elites even. Maybe if they value a wealth gap more than total wealth which would just make them actually evil instead of just selfish.

Fascism is a form of government where the apparatus of the state/local governments, civil organizations, corporations, etc, are all bound together with the common goal of advancing the interests of a party (not political, but a group.) In the Italian Fascist school, all these groups were working to advance The State (Of Italy in this case), while the German/North European Fascism instead was advocating for a concept of Der Volk, the ethno-nationalist cultural group of its citizens. In either case, a strong economy through alignment of all its parts was core, either to make The State powerful and wealthy, or its ethnocultural group. Either system was also prone to authoritarianism, which is a component or character of a government system (not a system unto itself), but the Italian school especially since The State was primary and its citizens expected to sacrifice their lives and freedoms (slavery, essentially) for Italy, whereas the Northern European could be considered less so since a greater degree of individual liberty was integral to preserving the character of Der Volk.
The current in-power group are Radical Marxists, and are extremely authoritarian, who are trying to wreck the economy and cause as much chaos as possible in order to destroy the old systems and usher in a 'revolution' to secure a more robust and terrible power. Basically they're a scam construction company that burns down your house so you have to pay them for a new one.
