To me it seems counterproductive to shut down all criticism, scientific research and investigative journalism about the dangers of SRS. Wouldn't it be better for transpeople at large if the procedures were improved? How will they be improved if no one is allowed to question them, "out" incompetent surgeons, or to discourage people getting procedures that will fail and/or give them lackluster results?

I don't recall many women with breast implants going berserk when the dangers of breast implants became big news. They didn't try to shut down all discussion of this by calling it "misogyny" or "anti-woman bigotry". They generally appreciated the warnings, had their implants replaced if necessary, got mammograms and other preventative medical procedures to promote their health. Women who seek to get implants, (with some sense of intelligence) including those who need reconstructive surgery post breast cancer, try to find legit sources of information so they can avoid complications. It's good to know what the difference is between "above muscle" vs "below muscle" implants. It's good to know what "capsular contracture" is. It should not be considered "triggering" to be informed of the risks, it's a common sense thing one has to do. It should be considered normal to be anxious about the possibilities of what could go wrong, and to prepare for them.

Same thing goes for birth control. Women are willing to hear about the potential dangerous side effects of certain types of birth control without accusing the critics of "misogyny". We generally know that taking hormonal medications can possibly f--- us up, and we appreciate when we are warned. I see parallels between birth control and trans medications. It's no wonder men who troon out have horrific weight gain and other issues. Women have been complaining about those kinds of side effects for years when it comes to hormone-based medications.

The reluctance of those who seek profit in troonism to be honest about the potential dangers is horrifying. It's like luring people pied-piper-style into Mengele's hands .

There are definitely groups of crazies out there who create plastic surgery cults and shut down all discussion about negatives. Abortion is much closer to trooning in that discussion about the very real risks is anathema and people pretend that no other forms of birth control exist when discussing it. Surgery itself is seen as a medical marvel by the general population where you go under, wake up, and all your problems are solved with zero complications. This is true of everything too, there are people who unironically defend shitty games on forums and call you hateful for not bowing down to small indie developers like EA Games for pumping out slop. There are Steam discussion boards that are deliberately pruned to the point even the most mild of criticism is perma banned by devs.

It's just the result of obsessive communities- troons are just this to the nth degree because you have to be mentally deranged to be one.

All in all I cannot think of anything terribly wrong that can happen with this kind of surgery. The OT sites are subcutaneous, non weight-bearing, and are far away from vital structures. Definitely safer than those ghastly butt augmentation favored by South-American butchers, and I don't know why didn't more surgeons think of it.

They probably did, and just thought that pumping fat into a hole is far cheaper.
