Josh, for what it's worth we should probably boil some of this down to the basics. You respond to this thread every time you see something you don't like and talk about what you don't like. And you have done so for months to the point where you've split the thread (which is pretty annoying in and of itself) and are actively smacking people with a fly swatter and thread banning them every time they talk about liking the subject of the thread. Which is fine if there wasn't another thread that they could walk over to and talk/laugh about how you thread banned them from the other thread for relatively innocuous statements. So I'm not sure you've taken the right track here if you were trying to get what you wanted.

It seems as if you're making a basic error in judgment when it comes to your administration of this thread and achieving the result you desire. You might be better off ignoring the thread entirely because I'm pretty sure your response is causing a lot of what you dislike, if not being the primary cause as opposed to any naturally occurring behavior. You run an asshole forum full of assholes that are being handed an opportunity on a silver platter to be assholes toward the asshole-in-chief.

The one thing that always surprises me is how far some will go into nonsense territory. Like some of the shit people get up to is very funny and ridiculous, but some people have no problem making stuff up. Presumably because they're too bored for nothing at all to happen, or because they just are trying to cloak their a-logging.

I know this is really shocking, but you've been around since 2017. Do you remember when you could post on this site without having literal shills and fanboys jump down your throat? I remember, because I've been around for 9 years.

I've seen this more and more around the forum where people are bickering over account age. And I probably haven't been here as long as some users, but I have been around communities online both large and small for extended periods of time. And the fights about how long a person has been a user at a forum are never a good sign. Especially here where anonymity is such a large factor of membership and is even encouraged, who knows how long some of these people have been at the site. But your point is well-taken, there do seem to be on occasion groups of people that join for the sole purpose pushing an agenda or ganging up on a user/thread.

You're probably not wrong that some people have recently joined to mess with this thread in particular; especially when you consider current events surrounding the subject of the thread. In this instance though it looks an awful lot like you kicked out all of the nice (mindless cocksucking fanatics) and left the primary thread in the hands of the very people that have joined the forum to stir the pot. Like @DumbDude42 said, there isn't exactly much to talk about with this person, but for the fact that a bunch of people showed up a couple months ago to sling mud.

But it seems as if making a general moderation decision over an entire thread was the wrong way to address the problem and instead the individuals causing issues should be addressed. This seems to be what is happening in the A&H section, which I don't know about you but I've noticed problem users posting less and less and the forum has improved somewhat over the last few months.

The community of people that like Jim are largely shitposters, so I'm not entirely sure what you expect. Most of his long-time fans found him through 4chan so they're going to bring with them a certain chaotic sensibility. If someone says Jim is shit, you're going to get people coming in to say that Jim is not shit. It's the nature of his sort of fandom, which is why this whole Internet Famous board is separate from the actual lolcow boards. This is Jerry Springer, not To Catch a Predator. Now you've got two threads and a meta-discussion concerning all of this and it's just a mess.

Anyway that's all. Just wanted to speak my piece. Overall it's a minor thing anyway and doesn't really matter to the larger function of your forum. How is it a mess tho? It's pretty simple. If you like Jim you post your "OMG WHEN IS NEXT VIDEO COMING OUT? I MISS JIM SO MUCH!!" posts in the Multimedia thread and if you want to, for example, discuss why Jim has a pfp of a 14 year old anime boy you come into this thread. I have never once looked at the thread in Multimedia and don't intend to go in there to tell them they are not allowed to like Jim. The same should be applied the other way around.

Since when does stuff about lolcows have to be related to their real life? Dick Masterson keeps his private life fairly private, not much is known about his relationship with his girlfriend, we know about as much about him as we do about Jim. Both of them have internet podcasts and twitter accounts where they post shit that can be discussed here. When I read this thread, it is constantly filled with pages at a time of people arguing. I have a few options:

1. Do nothing and allow the thread to become completely useless to everyone. (This was something frequently put upon by topics of threads on /cow/, where they would anonymously derail their own thread.)

2. Ban both parties from the thread, which is effectively just locking it or banning dissent entirely because any dissent causes pages of arguing.

3. Separate the sides so nobody is outright censored.
