The NijiEN community is pissed. Hold onto your seatbelts because it's not going away.
Fan Discords are partnering to make a project for Reimu, which will likely be a sore spot for Vox who said she was partially to blame and that he doesn't want to see anything regarding drama anymore. #ReimuIsBestGirl has been trending in multiple countries through the night, and Western Kindred are expressing how much they hated his statement because they consider it victim blaming.
He just needed to leave it at 'Parasocial retards aren't welcome' but then he went on...and on...
Yeah I don't have any stakes in the whole thing but when I went to listen to his statement a few things kind of stuck out to me as "ooh that's really not how you should be addressing this" even if I think I would say I agree with the core of the things he was saying.
When talking about what was happening to Reimu he felt the need to talking about how he
was annoyed by her DMing him but "it's ok because she didn't know better. Even when that's true and in other circumstances that sort of explanation would be fine. In this situation though a statement like that gives validation to the people who though they were acting in his defense. they hear that and say "see see, he was annoyed, that's why I'm defending Milord" and something about the whole "yes I found it annoying but oh silly Reimu just doesn't know any better" just gives really weird vibes and optics to me in a time she's already coming under undue fire. Felt like something that should have been just talked about privately not thrown out to the masses when people are already worked up.
And then just the fact that he spent just as much if not more time, talking about how annoyed, and embarrassed he felt because people wanted him to step up and say something. yeah like he said it would have been nice if fans didn't engage with the antis and trolls and people sending threats, it's just when you're working with a large number of people it's statistically an impossible expectation, some # of people are going to pozload my negholep. But at the end of the day those people are acting out of what they see as concern for Reimu's well being. and Vox spending just as much, if not more, time complaining about them embarrassing him and cursing at them for "telling him what to do" it makes one question his own priorities. What's he prioritizing more? His friend that's getting death threats as a result of his actions, intentional or not. Or is his priority himself, mad that the concerned fans embarrass him, and mad they're expecting him to step up and handle the situation he caused. In most other situations I'd probably just agree with the streamer telling their audience to fuck off, not engage trolls, and not backseat their career. In a situation like this where a 3rd party is dealing with a hate mob and getting threats however I think the priorities change and what needs to be said isn't all the stuff about your personal inconveniences in the situation.
We'll see if he gets it back on track, I don't follow him so I can't predict what he'll do. It'll be interesting to watch from the sidelines though.
