Even if Depp never stars in another project, he can more live comfortably off his royalties and music career.
Amber cannot. She's ruined. Even if she gets some minor roles, the fact that she's been revealed to be such a vile person has utterly annihilated her career in big name Hollywood.

They screech democracy simply because they believe that if we were a direct democracy country (or if all illegal-under-law ballots were always counted) republicans would never again be in power.
If they thought that would result in Republicans gaining more power, they wouldn't say shit (just like every time a Republican clearly wins). They're mostly for whatever means their side wins.
They're also pretty quick to let the quiet part slip out if you press them - that they would prefer anyone who voted for Trump/Republicans have their voting rights permanently removed since they're "obviously too stupid to be trusted with voting and are destroying the country".

This isn't going to set back victims of domestic abuse FFS. This was a defamation trial, not a criminal trial. It takes a lot to win defamation, especially when you're a public figure. If the juries found for Depp that means that the evidence was overwhelmingly in his favor.
Will women be less believed when they claim abuse? In the public opinion, yes. But let's be honest, even with me too women weren't believed. The only thing to come out of me too was Weinstien and he was guilty af. Everyone else accused of abuse is back at their jobs because public opinion wanted them there.
Will women be less believed in court? I doubt it. Not at a criminal trial anyway. Because women were already not believed by the justice system.
What this will do is mean more men speak up, and that's good. It's harder to abuse men because of the strength thing, but women can be evil cunts too. The only people less believed than women are men who claim abuse. I'm pretty feminist, but I'm more about equity than anything else. Men deserve protection under the law too. The law is supposed to be blind, after all.

Half the metoo accusations weren't about illegal things anyways. Like Louis CK, he asked every single one consent and his career was demolished. Meanwhile kids are getting fucked for nickelodeon productions and they got off Scott free. If anything metoo showed that women's accusations are taken very seriously and are toxic to reputations.
