Lesbian General Thread for True & Honest Women who love True & Honest Women - (Lolfag) Media, memes, discussion & more

Interestingly when I went to college there was a lot of good conversation about whether or not intersectionality was a good thing. It mostly had to do with feminism in the Middle East and in Asia (particularly South Korea.) South Korea got a lot of discussion because it's a westernized country and still incredibly patriarchal, and the women there typically reject western feminism.

So the question was basically is intersectionality just another form of western colonialism or not. Since it's basically saying what we as western academics think is good is also good for women in South Korea they just don't know it yet. Unfortunately this line of thinking seems to have died out. Probably because it made people uncomfortable.
South Korea got caught with a select few rich women controlling lots of aspects of their society if I remember. Maybe that might have to do why westernized feminism isn’t so relevant there?

Well you said it, you're in a very liberal area, which would be influenced by liberal big city culture, which is where this shit comes from. I mean I have been catcalled before, but it was usually when I was a tourist somewhere other than the midwest.
I live in the Bible belt and started getting catcalled basically as soon as I got boobs, rofl. In a county that's been pretty red as long as I've lived there.

If anything the noncery and misogyny is even more blatant here because fundies are still who have legislative power, and as anyone who's read Quiverfull General knows fundies are even more up to their eyeballs in sex pests than troons.

I've straight up had dudes try to get me in their car before, it was creepy as fuck

Well, it's not a good thing, because it just moves attention off of your own group and ends up making everything about other groups. So your thing was supposed to be about lesbians. Well thanks to intersectionality, it's no longer about that, it's about black women who are lesbians. White lesbians go take a hike. Taken a step further, now your thing is about black troons who identify as lesbians. So all real lesbians go take a hike. I mean maybe it originally had a point, like that being a black woman is a different life experience from being a white woman, but that's not what it produced in practice. It produced retarded Tumblr politics. lol And yeah, it has no practical application to other countries, especially ones as racially monotone as South Korea.

Hearing all of this really does recontextualise why you have so many more girls going FtM or Non-binary than boys. Jesus.

I blame it more on troons and straight troon enablers than asshole male sexists honestly. They've convinced all these young girls that they have gender dysphoria just because they feel more masculine than feminine or like dressing in butch styles. I don't think it's about them actually wanting to have male privilege or avoid male gaze. It's totally on trans bullshit theology that actually enforces hard gender norms to the point if your sex and gender traits don't match exactly you need to hack up your body until you match physically. It really is that fucking toxic. The fact that it has been dumbed down into a fashion trend just makes young girls even more vulnerable to it.

Well, that sucks. I'm not claiming sexual harassment/male gaze/boorish sexist behavior/etc. does not happen here, I've certainly been the victim of it, including when I was extremely underage (and from someone blood related to me, who now lives thousands of miles away ). I'm just saying stereotypical catcalling on the street just isn't common here unless it's maybe some high school kids acting retarded. It doesn't fit in with the attitude of the neighborhood I live in, which generally doesn't put up with people acting like assholes in public.

I don't know if it's midwest-nice or the city trying to keep its reputation as a nice place with a high rated downtown in tact, but people tend to not act like animals in public like that and yeah I find it really irritating when I go somewhere else in the country and that is the case.

I don't think I agree with you on living around fundies, which I know is a paradoxical stance to take in a lesbian thread. lol Maybe things are different in the southern Bible Belt opposed to the northern Christian Midwest, but I'd rather live in some sleepy town with churches on each corner than places that got rid of bail to let criminals that will rob you, rape you or blast you in crossfire roam the streets. Maybe this is my midwest bias since we go from one absolute extreme to the other. You have sleepy rural red towns with zero crime and zero problems save maybe for white drug abuse and under employment, then you have the these cities that have been ran by the same unending lineage of black Democrats for 60 years like it's some historical record of a dynasty pharohs where things get more violent and more apocalyptic every year with no end in sight.

But as long as I have my rights and can mind my own business, I don't give a shit if there is religious people here or who is in the legislature. Maybe I'm used to it due to coming from a religious background or I'm just so antisocial I don't see all the bad aspects like you do, maybe it helps that my SO hates PDA so we can blend in easier in public, but I probably won't change my calculus on where I want to live unless the Supreme Court goes full retard and overturns gay marriage, etc. and I'm literally forced to move. Even at that point, I'd probably still try to sneak off with my SO to some house in the woods somewhere because I don't like big city living and never will. lol

I mean, personally I'd like to live in a place where I don't have to worry about not being able to access a safe abortion if godforbid I was unlucky enough to get both raped and impregnating, nor do I like worrying about my straight&bi female friends not being able to access safe, legal abortions, but that's just me.

Public transit and not having to worry about services I depend on being cut back even further because red states hate spending money on their own citizens (unless they're rich) would be nice as well.

As someone whose spent most of her life in the south, assume all horror stories you hear about it are true until proven otherwise.

Also people being assholes in public is pretty common and expected, especially if some football or something game is involved. Shit, you could probably write a whole book on the acts of public assholery College football alone has inspired here.

As a CSA survivor, I have the same concerns about rape and abortion. I even argued in that big autistic A&H thread about it with mad stormfags, but yeah hopefully since I'm an adult now in a relationship with another woman it's not going to be one of my top concerns unless there is a nightmare scenario. I mean I'm pro-choice and agree with you, but I just can't make it my top issue. Is that selfish of me? I don't know maybe, but then again it's not my fault Democrats fuck up every time they are in power. I had pretty low expectations after being a jaded ex-Obama voter, but some how they managed to jump the shark in new spectacular ways we haven't experienced probably since before I was born.

Public transit isn't a thing in the midwest unless you live in some huge mega city where it's notorious for being awful and dangerous anyways. We drive cars everywhere. I guess that's more expensive (and a lot more expensive right now because of gas prices), but I like the freedom I get from it and the ability to avoid people I don't want to be around. Public transit seems like a nightmare to me. I don't know if that's elitist or what, but oh well. I'm still trying to condition my girlfriend into the idea that she doesn't need public transport and yes I can actually drive her everywhere. lol

I'll take your word for it on the south. I don't like too much heat anyways. I just want to live in the northwoods and make campfires. lol

Agreed.
Edit:
One of the worst parts about it (aside from the obvious assault) is the recorder going "This is what I have to deal with". Just the overall uncaring and even cynical tone makes me MATI. It's also why I don't like a lot of public transportation because they don't invest in quality or efficiency most of the time.[/URL]

He actually came up on stage during a rally and started talking about a study that said that everyone has a gay part of the brain.
He said his was a lesbian's.

Video for proof

Well, that was certainly something.

Here is another sensitive topic, but I suppose it does not hurt to ask it here...

I have seen and heard of numerous studies showing that rates of domestic abuse are higher among female homosexual couples compared to that of heterosexual couples, and lowest of all apparently are male homosexual couples in terms of domestic violence. Can anybody here speculate why this is, and if they have had similar negative experiences?

A thread where actual, sane lesbians are talking sense? Feels good.

Since the LGBT scene here in the UK is plagued af and I've become more of a shut-in these past couple of years, I don;t know a single other gay person and pretty much concluded i'll likely be single for the rest of my days as i refuse to go anywhere near LGBT circles anymore. But, this thread gives me a shred of hope for the future :)

I wonder if it's possible that it's not necessarily lesbians that are abusive, but women. If your boyfriend is a total slob and massively aggravating you, you can't punch him because he's twice as big as you and could snap you in half. You want to hit him, but the "hey don't get yourself killed bro" part of your brain makes you chicken out.

Whereas if it's another woman who did something to really piss you off, you can get physical. There is no self preservation instinct to short circuit the anger.

I have no idea how plausible that is, though. Other factors unique to lesbians probably play as big a part in explaining the violence rates.

I'm just spitballing ideas but it could potentially have something to do with gay women being more likely to report intimate partner violence? I know there's an issue with studies like this in that the unreported violence is most likely far higher than the stuff being reported, and that could perhaps be a factor for the disparity?

That aside, there is a decently sized issue in my area of the US where younger dykes trying to act more butch or masc will interpret it as acting more "abrasive" (violent) and go on about getting a ton of bitches in order to seem like a True and Honest Lesbian.

Sometimes they grow out of it and sometimes another butch knocks some sense into them. That could be a reason:shit-eating:

Oh man, I hate this shit so much. What the fuck is the deal with young lesbians calling fellow women "bitches"? It's deeply uncomfortable to hear, and just sounds like a girl going through her NLOG phase, or struggling with internalised misogyny. I've tried to call them on it, and they'll say that they're "women, so it's fine". No it's fucking not, excuse me? Those are women you're talking about, they're beautiful and they deserve nothing but your love and respect, you don't need to imitate gross dudebro men to be treated as my equal, and you shouldn't  want to have your actions respected by immature men who still see women as sexual conquests.

They never listen, of course, because apparently I'm too butch for that shit to affect me. It's just more conforming to old-fashioned, shitty gender roles.

I just straight up can't afford a car so public transit is my only option. My county is particularly bad for its population size and that's intentional, they want to keep us yucky poors as restricted as possible (even though you need transportation to be able to work and shit). Classism is just as much an issue in the south as racism.

Most of those studies a bulk of the reported domestic violence was from women who were previously abused by male partners. That footnote is in the study itself but fundies and the guilible tradcels that buy into their retardation make sure not to mention it.

I always thought the whole thing was, you know, bullshit. A way to add more negative stereotypes to lesbians.
I read a book called "Why does he do that?" by Lundy Bancroft. He's a psychologist who works with victims of domestic violence, especially children (I think). You probably heard of him.
The book mentions that lesbian couples are the least likely to have domestic violence problems. I suppose it also mentions any studies or surveys to back this up. I should check it again.
Now the book was published in 2002 and written during the 90s probably, so it is a bit outdated.

Lesbian Bratz from corporate pride thread. Bratz aren't my thing but tbh I don't think it's a bad set, plus people ITT were wanting more early-00s aesthetics
Looks like MGA released a set of gay Bratz dolls

View attachment 3345516

I never cared for Bratz beyond a “wow this is skanky shit” level so I can’t say if these are old characters made into carpet munchers or what. But the um everything is fugly and trashy as fuck, so totally on brand for Bratz

The Target listing does say that it’s intended audience is 18+

I don't remember the details, but I saw multiple people online mention that the statistics actually refer to lesbians and bisexual woman who have had a past abusive relationship with men, potentially not even a romantic one. Well, take that with a grain of salt.
Either way, someone would just have to dig up the study and actually read it, which I'm not interested in doing right now. I'm pretty sure no one who brings it up as a gotcha has read it anyway.

The lesbian thigh highs on that one doll are both hideous and corny-cute, I would buy my friend this set just to irritate the hell out of her tbh
Yeah it's extra AF but kind of a cute set because of the kitsch. Plus hey, lesbians.

I already got my lesbian doll set in the form of the Sakura Wars wedding set so I'm good
