I do think that some of these drugs, in certain situations, can make you numb to suffering and turn you into basically a psycho. I'm not sure Ethan was joking. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. I have had more than one person tell me when they started taking anti-depressants it numbed them both from their depression but also from empathy and excitement. That they don't feel the same when someone dies or gets hurt etc. it's all numb.

I've had friends who I didn't see for a long time then met up with them and could tell in their eyes immediately something is off, they tell me all about how the drugs have changed their lives. One of them killed himself. The others I am afraid of.

While I don't think someone being on these meds will cause them to harm anyone and I definitely don't think it's a valid way to judge anyone; they absolutely can make you feel extremely numb, depressed and vile. This is usually because they are taking dopamine antagonists which literally destroys your ability to feel happiness at all and make you generally angry at the world and want to say offensive things that trigger people. Perhaps Ethan was feeling particularly upset with his perceived political enemies that day and just wanted to say something that would anger them or cause a fight?

Yeah but I don't watch it to care about Ethan's takes or opinions. I watch the show to laugh at how silly he is and how stupid his takes are I have never taken him seriously or expected him to be a quality program in the 8 years I have watched him. I watch the podcast consistently because I can count on the fact that it's going to be extremely fucking retarded, have a few cheap guaranteed laughs in it and it is somewhat acceptable to watch with my 7 year old and wife on family night.

Expecting anything of value politically from the H3 podcast is like expecting a 5 star meal from Mcdonalds. If you treat the H3 podcast like the truck stop Mcdonalds it is, you'll find you probably like it much more.

I actually did meet my first girlfriend at a party by discussing H3H3's newest videos with her which she found quite amusing. This was about 5 years ago back when H3H3 was relevant. Nowadays hardly anyone would know what the fuck that is and they'll probably continue to go downhill from here. I do watch the show from time to time with my grand parents but even they (2 brain rotted 80 year old fucks) are starting to notice a huge decline in the quality due to Ethan's demeanor and garbage commentary. We'll probably all stop watching it soon, depends on what the g-parents want though.

Making consideration for his political Twitter ramblings, I'd argue it was more of a serious statement made in frustration. That's understandable, we all do that to some degree but Ethan is a public figure with a significant following. There's a difference between making a hyperbolic joke that can be interpreted in a number of ways, ways you're largely not responsible for, and just flat out saying someone should bomb a political institution full of people with no real interpretation or punchline.

I think the more likely explanation was he wasn't really thinking about what he said beyond what would give him more clout among his newfound politisperg audience. The health problems his constantly expanding gut causes him only add fuel to the fire as his deteriorating physical health takes its toll on his mental health.

That was actually one of my least favorite H3H3 videos ever. I was a teen when it came out and even back then I thought it was incredibly embarrassing and bad. Ethan's only funny when he's reacting to something or making fun of somebody even more pathetic than he is. His "sketch comedy" is genuinely some of the worst garbage I've ever seen on the platform. People try to say that H3H3Productions was far superior to the podcast but I disagree, I think the original H3H3 was incredibly unfunny and bad and that the podcast was far funnier (As low of a bar as that may be).

They truly are a complete relic of the past, like Leafyishere or even RayWilliamJohnson. In 6 years they will probably be seen as ancient. I could imagine full podcast episodes struggling to get 100k views in a few years.
