I feel like a fucking retard. I spent the past couple months telling people bitching about AAA to just play Indie games if they hated it so much, but indie games are just as cheap and generic as AAA.

I wouldn't be upset if it all wasn't the same fucking crafting/deck building/farming/zombie bullshit. Why can't I get a fucking game like Zelda 2 except polished and without jank? A shoot em up perhaps? Like I get that it's very hard to be original but holy shit at least step out of the 3 tropes/genres for fucks sake.

Remember when this whole indie dev thing really took off a few years back in the PS3/360 era and everyone was so hopeful about what all these small teams could create whilst not being tied down by big publishers? There was supposedly going to be this entire new "marketplace of ideas" opened up.

Now they've all just decided to recycle the same 5 or 6 games over and over and focus more on their "funky" art-style than even attempting to try something new gameplay wise.

I’d figure they’re all made in collaborative Discord rooms where powerjannies boot out the slightest bit of wrongthink, resulting in a shitload of homogeneous types making everything. Woke people aren’t creative in the least, and they’re too afraid to ever step out of line, so they end up churning out the exact same kind of crap while shutting down any outsiders the second they show up

I heard the title of that monorail game and saw the title screen (2022 is the year of the title screen) and was excited for a moment at the idea of a game about building monorails around island chains and moving resources and people and helping towns grow and seeing people meet each other and following their life stories that are made possible by me building monorails.

I just came up with a better game by hearing the title and seeing a static image. What's their fucking excuse?

Look at the best sellers or deals page on your console, small teams are still out there, making a different type of dirivitive (but cheap) title. I brought six or seven games for less than fifty bucks yesterday and I am sure that I'll get at least 50 hours out them.

Thanks to everyone who slogged through this stuff. I skimmed the highlights and feel regret, fuck knows what watching it was like.
