MPG-03 Yukikaze vs Moon Studios MS-02 Ice Land

MPG Yukikaze looks like something that should be Studio Series, not MP. Not worth the $215cad. Ice Land was $190

Yukikaze actually looks like the character and has a real alt mode though, I think I've said it before on this thread but the Zeta Trainbots are like everything I hate about third party these days.
giant oversized badly sculpted figures that are laser focused on the combined mode and fail at basically everything else.
also new pic of MPG Raiden

it looks like a literal 6-train-trainwreck and I kinda love it, I really want to see how Kaen is going to work considering the leg bots both make up the thighs, I'm assuming he makes alot more of the back.

Again, the only thing I like about these collaborative sets is the box itself.

It kinda sucks how after the overpriced skystriker announcement all the "retro" joes went from updated versions of the 25th style modern joes that have been made consistently after constantly for the last decade or so to the same kind of recasted retro figures that a bunch of fans make but break fucking easily because they're held together by fucking rubber bands. The holloweness of the transformers is probably an excuse to try and fit in with the "retro" aesthetic they're now doing with these which sucks because with juas a tiny bit more engineering they'd be able to cover up the hollow bits and it'd be fucking incredible. The thing alot of people don't seem to realize about large figures being hollow figures is it's usually partly a stability thing because if you don't make bits more hollow on larger articulated figures they're gonna fucking fall over if you try doing anything with them. They're charging fucking 40 dollars for their new "retro" gi joe 2 packs which adds insult to injury. I got 2 of those retro cobra troopers, the modern one's based on the 30th/50th part of the 25th line on sale for 12 dollars each a while back. Most of the figures in the retro joe line are straight up redecos of older releases fromt he 25th modernized fiures, but the trooper is actually a completely new mold with more articualtion than the rest of the line. NOT TO CONFUSE THIS WITHT HE 2 PACK NEW RETRO O RING ONESS THEY'RE SOON GONNA BE REPLACING THEM WITH THAT COST 40 FUCKING DOLLARS. My point is it fucking pisses me off how they're going backwards for nostalgiabux alone instead of just having both available. It gets weirder because the deisgns they seem to be basing these bot modes off of are not the g1 retro designs but rather modern takes from the idw comics. This shit's coming out rambly as hell because I'm still barely awake at 6 PM of all times but yeah it's fucking with me how they've been shooting themselves in the foot with gi joe stuff the past several years. It's clearly got a market, a big chunk of classified is practically a "scalper exclusive" line because of the shitty distribution and them over-stocking the snake eyes movie figures nobody wants. Even before classified and with the 25th/30th/pursuit of cobra/50th/retro line a big chunk of the later releases before they cancelled it for classified to exist before rebooting it as a walmart and online exclusive were all online subscription service exclusives that you had to then pay EXTRA money on top of the subscription to buy. It's fucking dumb and it sucks they didn't make the gi joe scaled transformers compatible with the 25th style figures that are somehow confusingly cheaper than the clearly cheaper to produce o-ring figures.

EDIT: Jesus fuck that really came out really scrambled. Future note, do NOT fucking multitask while trying to write opinions on shit while barely awake

I like what I see but It's X-Transbots so the transformation will likely be shit and a good chance it'll have QC issues that should have been fixed during design stages and prototype stages

Newage fixed the legs on their upcoming Grimlock, they're no longer horrifically ugly in robot mode. Not sure if it's a simple filler piece or if it's actually re-engineered.

Nothing on their weibo page about any changes. Just a better looking metalic toy version and Mangmotiona up coming video on it doesn't show any changes to the legs either.

According to their Facebook post

Based on your feedback and suggestions, we made two new cover panels, which can be installed in the inner side of lower legs of the robot. Because H44 will be released in no time, the panels will be included in the corresponding version (a.k.a the original color version) of the next dinosaur.

I don't even see the issue with the legs, its messy sure but the MP and MP-alike grims aren't exactly clean inside the leg either, and this is a quarter of their size.

I'm really hoping since this is Newage that they milk the ever loving fuck out of the mold, I have no interest in another regular Grimlock, but a G2 Tiger stripe Grimlock would push all of my buttons

Takara still really not selling me on this being an MP figure

No matter how I look at this it looks like something I'd see in Combiner Wars as a Titan class figure.

THIS IS A TORSO BUILT BY NOBODY. IT IS WORTH NOTHING.
Sad thing is is that I spent $150cad less for Moon Studios version (that is all six bots) and not only does it fit in with the rest of my MP's but in combine mode it just near perfect. Only issue I have with it is that the combiner joints are a little too stiff (common issue with 3rd party figures but easy to fix), and some have stiff joints in their individual modes.

bro I don't fucking know I just wanted to make a Simpsons joke
tbh I'm really amazingly glad I mostly dropped the fuck out of Transformers after G1

I mostly collect any character that was from G1. Whether it's for current Generations/ Legacy line or MP scale. Kids like the newer designs more and not really into MP scale. Not because of the transformations either but because they don't like the old cartoon all that much (they don't like how bad the animation was, understandable). They also don't the new Metroplex due to how he looks. They prefer the original titan class. They're also no into the Beast Wars stuff. Neither am I really but there's a few MP scale ones I liked and some Gen/ Legacy stuff too.

I also will personally collect certain characters from the Unicron trilogy, but that's more to do with design and not the character or liking the cartoon and some IDW characters.

I think the Torso looks fine, it's bound to be messier with how much longer the trains are, the sculpt is also way better than the Moon Studio one imo.
I already have G1 Raiden, so I'm not in a rush to get a new one, but the MP one is looking more and more appealing and it'll probably have some crazy cool engineering to go with it. I'll probably get Seizan if nothing else from the MPs since hes my favorite.

speaking of Raiden though, here's something crazy. I still stalk the search for Raiden/Trainbot/Train robo on Yahoo auctions for pieces I'm missing, and last week a Kaen version 2 popped up(it was a diaclone only release in alternate colors) I was watching it mostly just to see how much it would end on since I've never seen it for sale before

fucking a thousand dollars damn near.
the alt colors Train Robo/Raiden has to be the most expensive combiner ever made, I've only seen 2 other members for sale and they were incomplete and beat up and still sold for around 500.
beauty's expensive.
