Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

More space-related failures! This one feels petty to criticise, but since it's on a featured list (archive), I consider it to be worthy of mockery:

Information was added to the article in 2009, before the spacewalk was due to take place. 13 years later (almost to the day), and that last sentence is still fucking written in future tense.

We may never know if the MRM2 docked automatically...

(Edited to avoid double-post:)
I'm pretty sure that was just some random user that changed it and it slipped through the cracks for a little. There's a discussion proposing the name change linked on the top of the page now, and most editors are opposing it.

This is one of the users who contributes frequently to the Autism article. Not surprised.

I can't help but chortle at the fact that his source for the second quote is literally "me, just now" but in fancy citation format.

Although I suppose it could be useful if his user page is ever mirrored offsite. (Damn, the autism is contagious!)

Does having no political opinion automatically mean you're an anarchist?

This should be renamed to "shootings that took place at a school."

A "school shooting" has come to mean a shooter is attacking the school itself, (semi)indiscriminately killing students and teachers.
Meanwhile most of this list is just targeted murders of individuals which does not fit into the school shooting phenomena that someone looking up school shootings might want to know more about. This list is useless and most of it is just padding for political points.

Edit: After skimming the list I noted one that broke the listed exception rule about police action.

Excluded from this list are the following:

  1. Incidents that occurred during wars
  2. Incidents that occurred as a result of police actions
  3. Murder-suicides by rejected suitors or estranged spouses
  4. Suicides or suicide attempts involving only one person.
November 16, 1972Baton Rouge, Louisiana20At Southern University during a peaceful protest, two African American students were shot and killed by white sheriffs deputies. The deputies who fired the shots were never identified.[

You're damn right it's political padding, the entire point of these articles is to try to claim that America's 2nd Amendment Rights are nothing but awful and pretend there has always been some epidemic of school shootings, rather than acknowledge that the mass shootings that people freak out about are exceptionally rare.

Interestingly, their school shooting list sorted by death toll seems a lot more accurate and honest because you need to have a minimum of 4 kills to get on it. 30 mass shootings over 200 years with only 10 of those getting into double digits doesn't seem too bad.

If you read Chinese, take a look at the Chinese Wikipedia page of Giant Panda. They spend more words debating whether the "proper" vernacular name of the critter is 熊貓 or 貓熊 (2250 words), than about its distribution and biology (1887 words).
Pandas get a bad rep these days, but I’m surprised the Chinese are doing this as well. You’d think Wiki editors would take the time out to do research on how pandas work, but even then, that’s too much work it seems.

Someone with the 'tism spergs with a wall of text rant that annoys other editors. They then claim that their autism makes them go on tirades that no one wants to read, and then takes umbrage at an editor pointing to an article called "Living with COVID-19", because that phrase triggers their PTSD and using it is "offensive". I've taken a screencap of the relevant portion.

If anyone wants to read a "summary" of sperg thoughts (which has been collapsed), here you go:

A few days later, an anonymous IP editor gleefully trolls them on their user talk page:

That is perhaps the most cringeworthy spergout I've ever seen posted in text form. What the hell did the guy expect when he started this?!

Screenshot 2022-06-17 at 21.15.28.png

Oh and look at that! He's so flustered as he posts this, he actually fucks up the wiki syntax and forgets to add the time. First, why the fuck is he adding time manually? Every Wikipedian knows you sign posts – with timestamp – by typing four tildes. And rather than, say, check his edit history to see when the edit was made, he goes out of the way to further embarrass himself by saying he left "in distress" to explain why the post isn't timestamped.

Hard to believe that this is what precipitated such a meltdown:

For what it's worth, the entire point of the initial rant was to insist the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing. How many other Wikipedia editors do you think are just like this one, in terms of how their attitude towards how WP covers world news stories, but competent enough to avoid making fools of themselves?

And the reason he finds "living with COVID-19" so fucking triggering to read is because he can't bear to face the thought that the crisis is over and the rest of the world can finally stop panicking along with him and leave behind this stupid delusion that he is too far gone to part with. How sad.

Screenshot 2022-06-17 at 21.16.32.png

What? I don't even understand the second half of that.

I almost feel bad laughing at the guy. But honestly, fuck him for trying to make this other people's problem (and for trying to make his own irrational worries about COVID into everyone else's problem). I'm with Tenryuu and Sir Hiss on this one, but I'd have probably gone further.

Figured I'll repost the debate on Byuu's Wiki page just to show (once again) that jannies choose Feelings over Facts and why they deserve to have their rights revoked.

Seems like BIlorv doesn't take too kindly to people questioning his authority, so discussions are now off the table. Byuu is officially dead everyone, the Fuhrer of Wikipedia said so.

Oh and look at that!
Woow! So now autism also means "unable to condense one thoughts". And these very same people claim they are smarter and more highly evolved than we proles!

This sperg should just install a nanny program that censors all words that trigger his PTSD.
