Libraries? I'm pretty sure libraries are very low on the list of concerns the right-wing has, apart from not wanting to pay tax money for them to act as glorified day shelters for homeless who sit on the computers and watch porn all day.

Not sure how many lady users actively/consistently read this thread, but ICYMI the latest product about to be hit with shortages are *drumroll* feminine hygiene products!

So my fellow people of menstruation a.k.a uterus-havers, I would highly suggest picking up some extra packs of whatever you use soon.

This is probably in response to the wholly-justified outrage over Drag Queen Story Time events, frequently taking place at libraries and schools, another thing that normal people really don't want those institutions to be home to. I have never once heard right-wingers get mad that libraries exist, but damn near everyone thinks that sex perverts should not be allowed to get close to children. Naturally, disingenuous assholes like that cunt conflate the two because that's just the sort of people they are.

Don't worry, the Biden administration will move heaven and earth to arrange a fly-in of an emergency supply of feminine hygiene products....

...and give them to trans-women.

The people I've seen who are more conservative tended to go to libraries more often and read more books, while the more leftist types just watched TV, movies and listened to whatever music was most popular. The conservatives I've seen have said that libraries are one area where taxes are actually put to good use too. It's like these morons have never interacted with people who aren't leftards.

Libraries are cool. But we have a thing called the internet. Where anyone can freely access nearly limitless information anywhere, anytime.
But where will kids play Minecraft after school?

Addendum: libraries are also how naturalization services happen. If an adult is to learn English, they come to the library for volunteer tutoring and free English classes.

Libraries are a place where you can go to be completely free from black people for a while.

Yeah, most lefties I know these days just get their info dumps from buzzfeed and social media. The idea of the left being the intellectuals is long past. Most people I know I can have bigger brained conversations with are moderates and fellow right wingers usually.

The war is over. The administration just hasn’t admitted it yet.
Which side is still standing?
I know it's been brought up before, but damn if the whole "who has to die for you to give up your guns" line doesn't sound more and more like a threat these days.
That's because it is. If you tell them that your dog would have to die, I hope you enjoy paying for Rex's funeral.

Now that you mention it, the county I live in has a couple of ultra-wealthy towns that don't pay into the library system. These towns vote overwhelmingly for Democrats, have some famous residents who are well known for their left-wing "philanthropy", and always host fundraisers for Democrat presidential candidates when they come to the area.

Yes, but i also remember Romney's face when he got called a traitor and feel like that should happen a lot more often. You can really tell they do not like it one bit.
It's like calling a homosexual a pedo or calling a jew a jew. All of these things should happen more often.

Biggest gripe (which nobody even makes because it's so far down the list) is you have to put your ID on file to check out books and there's a federal system for making sure you don't read too many wrongthink books. Not that you could find them in a library anymore.

Nah bruh. Black people love libraries like they love everything that's free. They got computers there! You can be homeless there! You can take your kids there to give them another place to run amok!

I didn't see this posted, might have missed it though. I'm sure that "Rumor Control" would have been completely free of political bias and the members would highly value the Constitutional rights of all citizens.

Hawley, Grassley Demand Answers on New Whistleblower Documents Exposing DHS Disinformation Board Efforts to Monitor Americans’ Speech

Wednesday, June 8, 2022
New whistleblower documents, obtained by U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), expose shocking new details about the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) planned Disinformation Governance Board. The documents reveal that DHS drafted plans for the Disinformation Governance Board as early as September 2021 and explored the possibility of partnerships with Big Tech companies like Twitter to assist in their efforts.

In a new letter to Secretary Mayorkas, Senators Hawley and Grassley call for DHS to release all internal communications related to the Disinformation Governance Board and to clarify why he did not fully explain the Disinformation Governance Board’s role in his testimony before Congress.

“The First Amendment of the Constitution was designed precisely so that the government could not censor opposing viewpoints – even if those viewpoints were false. DHS should not in any way seek to enlist the private sector to curb or silence opposing viewpoints. It is therefore imperative for DHS to provide additional clarity regarding its policies and procedures for identifying and addressing ‘MDM,’ as well as its efforts to ‘operationalize’ public-private partnerships and the steps it is taking to ensure that it does not infringe on the constitutional rights of American citizens,” the senators wrote.

On May 4, 2022, Secretary Mayorkas testified under oath to Senator Hawley that the Disinformation Governance Board “had not yet begun its work.” On May 1, 2022, the Secretary told the news media that the Board would be focused on disinformation “from foreign state adversaries [and] the cartels” and would not monitor American citizens. At the White House on May 2, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed that the Board would be focused on “human traffickers and other transnational criminal organizations.”

In spite of the administration’s claims, the new whistleblower documents reveal:
  • The Disinformation Governance Board was originally conceived in part to monitor domestic speech regarding “conspiracy theories about the validity and security of elections” and “disinformation related to the origins and effects of COVID-19 vaccines or the efficacy of masks.”
  • DHS planned for a partnership with Twitter to suppress disfavored content and planned a meeting with Twitter executives exploring the concept.
  • The Disinformation Governance Board charter was drafted in January 2022 and personally signed by Secretary Mayorkas on February 24, 2022. The document states that the charter goes into effect immediately upon the Secretary’s signing of the document.
  • Despite the Secretary’s assertion that the Board had not yet begun its work, a planned meeting with social media executives appears to have been staffed by Nina Jankowicz.
  • DHS officials appear to have prepared legislation to codify a “Rumor Control Program of the Department of Homeland Security to Counter Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation,” including a public-facing website known as “Rumor Control.”

There could be 10 Sandyhooks every year for 5 years straight so every state could experience one. Americans still would not give up their guns.
Whenever they ask "Who/How many people have to die for you to give up guns", don't let them keep framing the conversation as if deaths and their reduction is the only purpose of the whole thing. Deaths has nothing to do with your rights and personal freedoms. Ownership of firearms was not intended to preserve the maximal amount of lives, ownership of firearms was intended to preserve the maximal amount of rights, liberties, and ability to defend yourself - Ownership of firearms makes the government think twice about dumb shit like no knock raids, and makes the death count of malicious actors skyrocket.

The part where you use a gun to kill someone intending you harm is not the reason you have the right to bear arms in of itself, but rather an outcome of the larger intent that you can fight for your fate, and are able to be best equipped to do so.
