Actually, it has been discussed before why this is probably not going to happen, specially in this case.

I'd be amazed if he was acquitted. That would be gross (heh) negligence on part of the jury. Even without the prosecution's witness, the combination of circumstantial evidence and >just the way he looks< should be enough to remove all doubt.

Yeah, this is a molestation case in backwoods Pennsylvania. AO's word is effectively absolute and the prosecution would still win this even if she said an outer space alien was involved. It really doesn't help Nick in court that he admitted it off-the-record, too, but that's just the bonus.

@AnOminous may be correct about AO not testifying. From what we can tell, AO and her dad still live with Nick's mom. She's convinced Nick is innocent. She's had months to pressure AO to not testify and brainwash her into thinking it was all her fault. Of course, if that's the case, couldn't Nick's mom be charged with obstruction of justice or witness tampering?

People judge others based on their appearance. Whether or not it's morally right to do so is debatable, and certainly in a criminal case only evidence and facts should be used to make a judgement, but when you have someone accused of a disgusting crime them looking like a disgusting person certainly doesn't help their case.

I'm honestly wondering right now, what with his shit-covered footprints all over the internet (it's incredibly easy to find them too, he uses his real name in many places and is very obvious to spot), how is it that he was JUST arrested less than a year ago? How has he not been institutionalized yet? He's obviously very fucked up in the head, surely someone should have realized how much of a danger he was to society before then?
I mean, he literally admitted to molesting his sister and fantasizing about raping and murdering people.

Because AO didn't tell anyone until last year. The police can't do anything if the victim can't confirm a crime was committed.

I just re-read that psych report and the recent posts.

They could not even reach Nick's mother to speak to her. And when she called and left a message, she said he has always been a problem. No love lost there. I am fairly sure that Nick is hung out to dry so I am not too worried about the possibility the victim is not testifying.

Again, my hope is the Order simply is allowing her out of court statements to be entered without her being called. If she held up well in the initial proceeding, perhaps the defence were only to obliging to not have a young girl on the stand telling the tale and garnering sympathy, ie domming Nick further.

99% of the posts here are pretty confident he will be convicted, I assume the prosecution is likewise. I guess we will know more soon enough.

That's the only situation that actually goes well for Nick.

Not knocking what you're saying, dude, but there's no real situation that 'goes well' for Nick. At the end of it all, he's a creepy, awful-smelling, socially-awkward buttertooth who, through his behavior online, has managed to alienate the few people that would give him shelter (I would be incredibly shocked if his Grandma/Aunt/Whoever he's living with lets him back in after everything is dug up, but then again, I'm uncertain, I'm not too educated on Nick.), and any attempts at latching onto some new target online would be very difficult unless he becomes very, very clever about it, which is also unlikely.

Even if he's dodged a prison sentence, he's pretty much already made his own life a prison.

It's possible she could be charged, provided intent can be proven. I doubt the would unless the PA somehow used the lack of AO's testimony to totally destroy the states case.

Nick's mother has gone out of her way to ensure her son avoids any kind of punishment for his actions. She doesn't believe mental illness is real, and it's entirely possible she herself is also on the schizophrenia spectrum given the sheer degree to which her delusion has enabled her son's predatory behavior. Hell, if he had a mother who didn't take mental health lessons from Tom Cruise, it'd be almost impossible for Nick to wind up as depraved as he is today.

It's just a shame Mama Stoutzenberger will never face justice for her negligence and superstition. She deserves the same six feet of rope as her wretched spawn.

Regardless of how awful a mother she is and how little she cares about Nick beyond the embarrassment of not wanting to admit she has a peadophile for a son Saul Goodman verified that at the trial he attended it was perfectly clear her and Nick's aunt were fully convinced of his innocence. I hope we're wrong of course and the witness hasn't been put off testifying but it's a situation I could definitely see happening.

Don't forget Nick only ever faced some repercussions for his actions when Ao realised what was done to her was not okay and came forward. As sad as it is I'd imagine a conviction hinges on some form of testimony.

Good is in a purely relative sense, and a "good outcome" for Nick is just one where he isn't stomped to death in prison.
