I am not disputing that this guy is mentally ill, but there are categories of mental illness; likely he has a cluster B personality disorder or traits of one. He's not insane enough to require a guardian or a conservator, and thus he has medical agency to make his own decisions. I honestly think the healthiest thing for him would be to accept that he got where he is now because he actively sought it. He wasn't just checked into a mental hospital and carted away to have an amhole drilled into his taint. If he pursues the victim narrative, he'll never learn what accountability means and thus his life will never improve.

Many humans are vulnerable to manipulation, whether due to mental illness or youth or developmental problems or plain stupidity. As a society we are responsible for protecting those people from people who would take advantage of that. I think few if any of us really believe that. What we believe is that in most cases the troon has to own up to his or her fault for actively seeking out and then consenting to being mutilated. Responsibilities are not either-or; indeed they rarely are.
