I just watched “Goodnight Sugar Babe: the murder of Vera Jo Riegle” and it’s totally on theme for this thread. It’s a sad documentary about a poor sped cruelly misused and murdered by a clan of evil hillbillies but it’s got deathfats, fake pregnancies, ineffective CPS, white people claiming to be Crips, gloriously awful tshirts, lots of FAS face, incest, and a hobo boyfriend.

I’d advise reading up on the case first because there’s so many characters in the doc it was hard to keep them straight. Beside the sad life of poor Vera Jo, this film is otherwise full of wondrous characters. And you Sarg stans will get a better understanding of what he’s probably like irl.

I just watched this on YT. Worth a watch for the reason you stated. This movie will stay with me awhile (and serve as a reminder that good dental hygiene is it's own reward. Some scary looking teef there.)

The people that still had some teeth either had a mouth full of shards or Luna-style rotting ones. I agree, definitely worth a watch. It's sad that that inbred family was basically a crime syndicate and the cops never did anything.

Off-topic from Sammie but on topic in general: America's underbelly is an endless source of fascination to me. I came to this thread because I especially like the fantasist lolcows (Sammie, Jodee 'Royal Black', Fat Rick Tomlinson etc) and have found such a grimy, tragic and totally morbidly compelling universe. I can't put my finger on why this Knockemstiff/Harmony Korine/no-budget juggalo music video world is so interesting to me but it's my favourite thread on the entire Farms. Count me in among those who want recommendations for more of this kind of stuff in books and movies - give me your poor, give me your tired, give me your oversexed toothless weirdos!

That documentary is like a slice of what Ohio is like outside the main cities, it’s all meth/heroin and dysfunction.

Poor Vera Jo, probably TMI but I visited the train tracks where she was found to put flowers. That town is a dying shithole but it’s a worthwhile documentary as sad as it is.

Apparently Sugar Babe can’t get a moment of peace there from the residents and still receives death threats.

Unless it's in a scientific/medical context, or you're a Ferengi, I'm going to be a little wary of anyone who always refers to women as "females." I have never heard "females" in a sentence that wasn't sexist and at least a little bit unhinged (usually more towards completely fucking crazy, has never met a woman irl).

All that being said - Sammie, Kim, and the rest aren't women or ladies or feeemales. They're bitches.
