And I know Oscar Isaac is good in other things, but that Ex Machina good will has dried up with me. It has to come down to direction and when you imagine JJ or Rian trying to explain their motivations, it makes sense why their performances are terrible.
Isaac can work with good material. He just needs good directing and a fucking direction as to where the character is going so he can have some investment since all writers of the sequel trilogy had no idea what to do with him.
Disney basically had two missions. Make back their initial purchase of Star Wars of $4billion as quickly as possible. This can be done through movies, shows, toys, license deals, and even just continually selling already made content (or endlessly releasing special editions like Lucas did). But movies had the biggest potential to rake in quick cash. And then their other mission was to setup Star Wars to be bled dry and get as much cash out of it as they possibly could before people realized that they had no long term vision for Star Wars other than....."Hey everyone we own Star Wars now!".
The thing is that there probably will be quality Star Wars content from stuff that is licensed. Video games, books, toys, models, and whatever. But the big items like the movies, theme parks, tv shows, streaming shows, will be mass marketed garbage. Likely until either someone else owns or controls Disney (which I do not see ever happening now that jews control it outright). Or someone purchases Star Wars from Disney (likely also never going to happen).
We are basically in phase two of Disney owning Star Wars. Phase one was churn out as much stuff as possible. Phase two is bleed it dry. And phase three is either sell it or let the IP finally just rot and die or wait decades for a revival.
Its rare that Disney lets an IP go when they own it, Bob Iger may be gone but his mentality of "own fucking everything" is still very much present because it was a winning strategy in the long term. Even if you produce new crap, the money made from selling the old stuff will still go to you. It helps that with streaming services, you are mostly in control of everything, right down to viewship reports.
So Disney isnt going to let Star Wars go, ever, because even at the worst of times they still produce a passive and yet very big amount of money. Because even devalued, SW is still an icon even at the best of times, a pillar of culture that cant just lose all of its value unless enough time pass without any content.
They need to bankrupt first before letting anyone touch their IPs. Disney is infamous with giving the finger to public domain laws so what makes you think that they will let anything go that easily?
Of course Anakin has to be more like Filoni’s swashbuckler than George’s well-intentioned version during those flashbacks.
Also, the fact they didnt bother using de-aging effects or at least some make up to hide the fact these actors are 20 years older just shows the level of effort and budget involved in this series.
This is ep 2 Anakin, for fuck's sake, he looks like a grampa
With Furloni even drawing her as living inside of Maul's head rent free.
Oh for Fuck's sake. No matter how much Feloni and his fanfiction wants that to be the case, she will NEVER live in Maul's head rent free, thats Kenobi. KENOBI! He cant help but make Ahsoka the center of EVERYTHING these days, doesnt he?
Ezra and Ahsoka have become the new Starkiller but worse, only difference is that at least George and old Lucasfilm were smart enough to lessen Galen's importance after TFUII
It helped Galen was suppose to be dead after TF1 but suddenly they demanded a sequel and the TF2 writers had no idea on what to do. So "Awww, CLONING, yeah, cloning. Whew! We dodged that bullet"
