I was talking to a friend in the military about a video showing DPR conscripts using unencrypted civilian Baofengs a while ago, and his reaction was (paraphrasing) "those guys have better comms equipment than us". It was a bit of a culture shock moment for me when he added that there are some pieces of equipment where he recommends buying a used civilian equivalent because it's better than what the Army has.

The Army has been massively behind the civilian sector in terms of technology for ages now. Your average farmer probably has more and better C3 gear in his tractor (GPS, radios, Internet hotspot connections, mapping and tracking software) than a company commander's Abrams does. If the boogaloo happens, the farmers are going to wind up as our officer corps by default.

I once again recommend looking up that channel to you. Ignore the letsplays and just go with the ones labeled campfire stories. I really think you’ll get a kick out of those.

Oh, Johnny Boy is more than familiar with the idiocy of junior officers. I still remember his story about a brand new platoon commander deciding to wash out the wet filters on a bunch of tanks. I'll give you one guess what happened when the tankers took them out after their clogged, oily filters were rinsed clean of all that gunk.

So just before the explanation, they actually are doing this. Well, not really. The Federal Reserve is slowing the rate at which it prints more money. But in their minds, that's doing what you say.

But anyway, the way the money the Fed "prints" makes its way into the economy is that they lend it out to banks who then in turn lend it out to Blackrock companies and people. Thus there's more money, the economy seems lively because there's lots of money to spend and then inflation happens. You probably have the rough understanding of this but I needed to explain the precise mechanism because it's needed to understand how the Fed reduces the amount of money. See, they can't just go out and take the money back from people. How they do it is they raise the interest rate on the money that they lent out. That's what the Interest Rate is. When it goes up, the banks that they lent it to have to pay back the money they borrowed from the Fed and the interest on top of that. Higher Interest rates, faster the money is reduced (because the longer the bank holds onto it, the more it costs them).

So basically, to do what you say means to increase interest rates. What happens when you raise interest rates? Well, mortgages which are linked to that interest rate goes up, fixed rates are harder to get, etc. Plus anything else linked to that interest rate and the general cost of borrowing. So bump the Interest Rate and people start losing homes, jobs, etc. Furthermore, the higher the interest rates, the more difficult it is for the US govt. to pay its loans. Remember that the USA is >$23trn in debt. If the interest rate goes up, so do the repayments.

So it's not a retarded question, you're fine. But basically doing so has nasty side-effects. I believe the technical term for the current situation is "rock and a hard place". Successive US govts have been living off cheap money for a long time, now. Sooner or later something is going to break. Maybe already has - effects on this scale take a while to properly understand.

I like the Milton Friedman analogy of alcoholism. Free money is like boozing it up: feels great for a time and then you wind up wrecking yourself, so short term good feelings, long term pain, (which is why politicians love it) whereas getting clean off easy money is like getting clean off booze: sucks ass for a while before you finally start to feel better.

A theory I heard that makes some sense is that the Dems were planning some kind of major false-flag incident on 1/6 where a few heavily-armed patsies would enter the building and inflict mass casualties, kind of like a sequel to the Las Vegas shooting. It went wrong when the Capitol police opened the gates and let anyone in who wanted in. They were supposed to let just the designated patsies through but there was some kind of miscommunication (or sabotage?) and they threw open the doors for everybody.

As a result, there were hundreds of people milling around recording and streaming stuff on their phones. Livestreamers and false flag attacks are a bad combination. They couldn't safely pull off the gory spectacle they were hoping for unless they were guaranteed 100% narrative control, so they fell back on a plan B and decided to run with a party line that petty vandalism and discarded water bottles are worse than 9/11.

Na, any actual violence (not done by them, technically) would have horribly traumatized the Congressmen, and that just wouldn't be allowed. A few dead protestors, sure, but not even a Congressman could look at the spot where their favorite doorman got his brains splattered across the wall without flinching and pushing for something to be done, and I mean an actual something. The plan was for a bunch of QAnon Shaman grade idiots but nobody else to come through and get blackbagged, both to point out how loony the GoP base was and as a show of force. Seriously, would we care if a man like that wound up in a Capitol Police blacksite getting a car battery to the nipples? Probably not as much as we care about the normies who are getting that treatment. An unironically mostly peaceful yet massive protest where even flag waving grannies both participated and emerged unharmed put the fear of fucking God into everyone, both because it was entirely unplanned and it showed off how massively reviled Congressmen were... and how fragile things really are for them. It really says something when what's basically an unplanned guided tour has Congressmen cowering in mortal fear and wearing goofy-ass gas hoods, now doesn't it?

I can’t see the future so I can’t tell you how it’s gonna go, but I don’t think those two situations are really the same. There’s a difference between a network going “we’re totally reformed now, just trust us guise!” and new management coming in, cleaning house, and saying “we’re running things differently now, shape up or GTFO”.

That being said, the news that CNN got bought by Discovery isn’t exactly common knowledge. But the more noise a retard like Stelter makes, the more normies will find out about (and be potentially intrigued by) the “new” CNN.

Either way, whether the rebrand succeeds or fails is irrelevant, as the success of the Warner-Discovery merger doesn’t exactly hinge on a dying news network. Besides, the Discovery CEO is an open Trump supporter so it’s not like he’s going to shift it back to its old, also failing political leaning if the rebrand fails to land.

And hey, at the end of the day, even if CNN isn’t successfully conveyed into a moderate/center-right news network, it’s still a major pawn of the Democrat media industrial complex that’s been taken off the playing field.

If I had any idea how retarded some of these laws were in hindsight, I would have saved the hassle and paid extra for the Mini 14 or M1A though I have personally given up to some extent and I am sure there are many other in the state in regards to whatever comes out signed by Newsom.
