OK... Why hasn't @Lunaprey been verified for this BS, yet??? I know that's a bad question to ask, but all this whining about us not hugboxxing each other enough.. Dear Fucking Christ...!
 
To get back OT with OP, yes, the Farms are much dumber than they should be, even allowing for the inevitable autism, obsequiousness and trollshielding.

Posting an opinion contrary to that of any established OP = hella downboats.

Posting an opinion contrary to that of any OP in Community Watch = post deleted because "muh troll raids is not sirius post".

I've locked Shaner's thread and banned the Walking Stomach and his thread as well.

From what I've gathered in the x amount of months where people talk to him non-stop every single fucking day, they're grumpy old people with absolutely nothing to do and I'm sick of seeing chat notifications of people doing nothing but arguing with mentally enfeebled elderly train fuckers who aren't even funny.

I'm going to make this thread so people can complain at me, but really, it's the dumbest thing that's been on the forum since the Entersphere.

I think in some respects, some of the autism that came out of that thing surpassed the autism that came out of the Entersphere when you think about it and even less controllable.

I think coming to terms with that is harder if you were in the thread a lot from the beginning. To a lot of people it was like finding the new CWC and that's where shit got really out of hand. The hilarious stories from @Gook Choy and @Pocket_Sand! were funny and at the beginning, I was just interested in seeing how salty the guy could get and how dumb he could really be and how far that could be pushed. When it was found that there was literally no bottom to how gullible and stupid he could be, that's another factor that really led to the downfall of that thread. Cat described it as trying to troll a baby once.

I think it's even funnier when I see some of the posters who posted in a lot in that thread (I've been guilty of this too and sadly admit it, but that's part of the reason for this thread is so we can learn from our mistakes) get way too judgmental about other threads and want to use chimp outs and having someone to argue with as a requirement for a lot of the new cows that are found. One thread I looked at where I dismissed the cow quickly based on what other people were saying in the thread just wasn't my best moment at all and when going back and watching his content several weeks later thanks to the opinion of someone else who had never posted in any of the Shaner threads, I found that there was so much more to the guy that I missed and that made me laugh my ass off looking at it from a more neutral perspective.

Huh? That wasn't AnOminous?

But yeah, the Shaner thread was by far the funniest thing to have happened since Jace, but it was shut down by people who didn't get it because "muh I don't get it".

All the shitty, unfunny 1000-page threads on this site and the one thread that kept on giving, with the one self-milking arsehole who really deserved it, got locked.

And then there's the immediate autistic pile-on of any IRL acquaintance of any cow with "Nuh-uh! You is a liar and a troll!"

That was at its worst in the Shaner thread, where everyone wanted to score Kiwi points by autistically accusing Walking Stomach and all the other foamers of being Shaner socks when they should have just shut up and listened.

TL:DR: This place is fucked but /cow/ is worse.

Be glad you did. I'll describe it for you to save yourself time.

Lots of underaged kids who posted in there and not ever learning about the site's culture, and many that didn't even know the very basics about posting in a web forum. Plenty of powerleveling that went on, it's a blur to me at this point but this is what I remember. That @NostalgiaJazzAdmirer guy was able to get everyone in there so pissed off just for posting opinions about the subforum that were contrary to what others believed at the time. It's been nearly a year since that subforum started too and it all came from one out of control thread on TheMysteriousMrEnter himself. Even that alone could have been handled so much better. Came nearly around the same time the Deagle Nation stuff was ending.

@NZDROW was one of those people that turned out to be underaged and really salty about this site from the beginning.

Ratings aren't "downvotes", they do not signify whether an opinion has merit or not, they communicate the thoughts of others about how they feel about your posts to you even if they wouldn't otherwise make a post in text to reply to you. As far as your argument goes, yes, well, it's true that the 'Farms has hiveminds and cliques that are trying to establish officially allowed opinions or hate jerks against other posters, but I do think that putting effort into an argument won't make you usually seem stupid to others but you usually have to tread the waters a little carefully because if you come out swinging towards an established minicommunity, you'll get smacked on your ass because your opinions are "wrong". This imo has less to do with the fact that the Farms are "dumber", and more of a symptom of lolcows having more established followings and the threads being more formulaic, which means that they develop a certain culture and people who post there without knowing the norms of the thread get singled out.

The Shaner thread attracted an incredible amount of fucktarded weening when Shaner came on the 'Farms. I agree that ultimately closing it was more because Null didn't like it personally, but nuking Shaner's accounts was absolutely the right idea because people became more autistic than the lolcow when Shaner was around. The Shaner thread was funny, when Shaner wasn't around, but when he was, the thread was just inflated Clydebots trying to fellate themselves by screaming at Lennayyy.

That's pretty much the best description of it. As soon as people realized how gullible he was, suddenly there were Liquid Shaners and Clyde Cashs everywhere. Setting aside how autistic the thread got at times (I do not deny I participated), @Kirby's videos and Shaner's "Taking down the Farms" Facebook page which was controlled by a bunch of weens who were trying to get him to believe shit like the Farms being an organ harvesting operation were the absolute nadir of what was, by that point, a shit-tier thread. I mean...he's a diaper shitting pedophile train autist who lives with his mom at 50 - you barely need to poke it to make it funny.
