Tbf most women in Japan who consume BL don't become Aidens since they acknowledge it's a fantasy and they don't *literally* self-insert for it. What do friendships between male characters look like more voluminous, fuller and more interesting than the canonical hetero couples in the work. Also, male characters are written better than typical smurfette syndromes, which is why it is logical for girls to associate themselves with the images of guys.
I really think it comes from childhood. And if this is superimposed on a huge gender pressure with stereotypes, then of course you begin to deny any image of female. You cannot be a woman if you are not attracted to the image of makeup and femininity. If you have "male" interests etc.
