When I say the mother is blamed, I’m not really talking about the cows here. We do a pretty good job investigating and parsing out details of their lives.
But look at ANY sudden death of a kid online-a story in the media or posted on Facebook, and in the comments there is ALWAYS people saying that it was the mother’s fault, she should have been watching kid better, she should have….whatever. I’ve seen it about driving accidents where teens crashed, I’ve seen it regarding daycare accidents where a parent wasn’t even there. I understand it in a way: if they find fault with what the parents did, then they can believe they and their own families are safe, because they don’t make those mistakes.
Yet, they do. Anybody who has been a parent knows you cannot watch them 100% of of the time, and any kid can fall off a chair and get a shiner or run too fast and fall and hit their head. No matter how well they are raised and even if you are a foot away. Especially during puberty and the teen years, they become very impulsive and their peers are more important than family and they do things parents have warned against. Most of us did too right?
I knew I’d get a lot of disagrees and that’s ok. But because the woman was a ring girl and the kid liked MMA doesn’t mean she pushed him into it. She exposed him. Like a Dad who is a mechanic, or a mom who is a guitarist. Kids tend to like what they see a lot of, at least when they are young. MMA may have been on TV in the house, they may have gone to fights as a family and an active ADHD kid is going to like it.
Maybe I missed that Hollie was a sex worker and out turning tricks all night. I didn’t know that. I thought she was a personal trainer who taught pole dancing classes, which is not sex work. If I missed something, well obviously, that work isn’t healthy. But even still, lots of mothers work nights: nurses, doctors, servers, shift workers, and their kids are cared for.
I just see a lot of assumptions and no actual proof of her being a neglectful mother. Maybe an uneducated one, who had low-brow tastes, but from when I started reading, my impression was she lived and cared for her son best she could.
However, the way she’s handled this accident and death has been awful, without a doubt. And I understand if the public can’t separate one from the other-she brought this on herself for sure. I also could be wrong and she could be a typical narc mom like Robyn-I didn’t read her Facebook and only saw one post where she punished Archie inappropriately that turned into something fun. But a lesson taught poorly didn’t mean she was a bad mother always, and seemed like she was trying to teach rather than beat.
Anyway, just another perspective that you can disagree with. I’ll go back to bashing Robyn who truly is evil.
