This is one of those genres you would expect a lot more trips to the hospital, For stiches after getting smacked with an arcade stick base at an event would be more common... It happens, they have hot heads; but not like you see fortnite/whatever else shit royal game streamers melt their setup 3 times a month for.

I think they kinda solved what do with Ken in 3 by introducing Sean as his wannabe student and giving him that sort of "little brother" character. I think there's a shocking amount of depth there with Ken sending Sean on what appears to be a snipe hunt to defeat Ryu, when in reality he realizes that Sean needs a master who can teach him the fundamentals and rigorous routines required to develop skill rather than rely on natural talent as he Ken does himself. Could've been a cool thing about Ken and Ryu coming to terms with how much they've grown and how it's their turn to teach the "next generation" of fighters but that would require Capcom to do something cool or interesting or new ig.

All that being said I didn't realize Dee Jay was back, we love to see cool charge character reps. The Mexican and black girls also look cool, love their designs

I kinda wish Capcom would revisit the idea of having a new generation of fighters. Frankly, I think the series relies too much on Ryu, Ken and the cast of SF2 to push the story forward. That's the reason why 4 and 5 were stuck in the interim period between SF2 and SF3 when they really should have been pushing the story forward.

Also, I get that Ryu is supposed to be a successor to Goyken, but why does he have to be a character that's autistically asexual? He never expresses any interest in any of the women he's around. I'm calling him a fag or anything, but I think it would have given his character much more variety if he either relinquished his desire for a wife and a family, things men naturally want, and decided that he must follow in his masters footsteps, or settles down with Chun-Li or Sakura or a woman like that and starts a dojo to train the next generation of fighters. I think SNK does that aspect of character building way better since their characters act like normal human beings for the most part outside of battle.

I think Capcom was afraid to take that step forward for a while after they set up a lot of extra Shadaloo lore in the Alpha games and kind of foolishly dumped in 3. Not that I don't like 3's story themes and villain (Gill, Urien and the Illuminati are still sick af) but looking back it's easy to see why people were disappointed by the "New Generation" when it came out way back when. Even then I think 5 tied things up nicely even if 4 really didn't know where it wanted to take the series. Ultimately it looks like they're still a little unsure of what to really do with 6 since nothing shown so far indicates Luke's story mode and the mysterious terrorists from it are the Illuminati (or if they'll be relevant at all)

I don't mind it because it serves a two-fold purpose in ryus character:
1) Ryu is afraid to make lasting connections with people due to his connection to the Satsui no Hado
2) Ryu is a more traditional representation of the "sagely warrior" trope (compared to Oro who's the more jokey eccentric pervert despite his immense power and skill like Master Roshi or Gen who's a mean jaded death-seeker)
Now that Ryu CANT make lasting connections or won't when he can be sure he won't kill people. Hell him and sagat are pretty Gucci these days. With Sakura's story in 5 confirming that she wants to settle down and maybe start a family I wouldn't be surprised if Ryu didn't end up boning her before 6

Which even makes it more bizarre to see in the FGC, especially when playing titles like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Those two game titles were more diverse in their golden eras and knew how to balance edginess with having fun.
