Yeah, I should have specified cavities and tooth decay.
I didn't mean ancient people had perfect teeth, just with a low occurance of cavities given primative dental hygiene. There were still lots of shit that could go wrong and scurvy could result in root rot and losing the tooth. There was lots of issues with impacted teeth, abcesses, etc. The romans were comparatively advanced by chiseling any offending mother fuckers out and using dental gold to try to repair or replace teeth.

You are right about predator teeth; Jim Corbett, who went all over the world hunting "man-eaters" discovered almost almost all of them had injuries or disabilites, most dental related.
