He's never been oblivious to what could happen to him if AO's accusations went anywhere - so it's probably fear. And a month in (likely) solitary in one of the worst prisons in the country will probably dampen the spirits of anyone.

If it is real and was released by Nick or whatever my third question is who the fuck evaluated him and let him go? He has a Global Assessment Score of THIRTY. He is to be described as malodorous which means he practiced very poor hygienics. Telling the doctor that he plays with feces I'm not sure why those two combine things didn't factor his score to a 29-20 range. This has to be after the incident with AO because he states the step father didn't want him around and when prompted he said he didn't know why.
@AnOminous may be correct about AO not testifying. From what we can tell, AO and her dad still live with Nick's mom. She's convinced Nick is innocent. She's had months to pressure AO to not testify and brainwash her into thinking it was all her fault. Of course, if that's the case, couldn't Nick's mom be charged with obstruction of justice or witness tampering?

Where is CPS and why is she still in that environment? The state has failed AO tremendously in this case.
I don't think anyone who isn't a psychiatrist would take the time to write up such a thorough eval. Could be wrong, but this would be a troll who has significant medical knowledge.
It takes quite a bit to involuntarily commit someone. The easy ones are people who have suicidal/homicidal ideation and are an immediate threat, but everything else is a battle. This is the result of the de-institutionalization the began in the 80s. You can argue that he had homicidal ideation based upon his statement that he has "movies running in my mind" of killing his family. When questioned further, he didn't truly have intent, and he knew that he would "go to prison" for carrying out said actions. The psych recommended in patient therapy, but he had no legal basis to commit Nick. As sugoi chan said, with his parents not believing in mental illness, he was screwed from day one.

Bate posted the eval himself years ago after his time in a mental hospital, but that was back in 2006 when he was fifteen, which is probably why it's harder to find the exact post from Bate's self-dox. He was committed briefly because he assaulted his mother for restricting his Internet access.
I'm pretty sure he did it so he could prove he was actually committed. Bate's so fucked up, most people who saw him were so horrified they were convinced he had to be some sort of troll, but even before the arrest he had a decade of history doing things exactly as fucked up as this and more on a repeated basis. Bate also has no filter so he's never even remotely cared about posting his personal info or that of his family.

There's generally not a lot that can be done in domestic issues anyway when you don't have anyone who's willing to talk, let alone when you're dealing with a minor. The molestations happened in at least 2009, by which point Bate was of age and even more fucked up than when he was committed.* In addition, he records of all of these events have been buried deep within the web to protect his half-sister, AO. Even Encyclopedia Dramatica took her doxx off the main page, and this is a site where you not only have a Tamil Tiger's severed head in the terrorist article, it's not even that big a deal.
I was actually surprised the score was only 30 before I found out it was from a decade ago. If he were to receive one now, there's no way he'd rate anything higher than a five. But GAF isn't used anymore after DSM-5, so Bate'd just receive whatever the worst possible score on the WHODAT.
The state fails people all the time. Especially when those in question go out of their way to avoid being helped for whatever demented reasons they possess. Look at Josh Duggard. He'd've been sent to juvie or the can, but his family went out of their way to cover his numerous molestations up, and the Duggards are both public figures and involved in things which require human contact.
Bate's unemployed, has no friends, never leaves his Aunt's house, and most of his family's been totally broken by his behavior and already possessed an innate distrust of social services, psychiatry, and the government before any of this started. Even his contact with others on the Internet accomplished nothing as far as sending his ass to a hole in the ground. Bate's mind is so diseased he's even impossible to troll. He posted the worst possible things any human being could ever release, up to and including his doxx, until the day he was arrested.
The only reason why we're lucky enough to have Bate behind bars is because of AO's courage.

The GAF has also been mentioned, and specifically, that "smearing feces" is listed in one of the lower brackets, specifically 11-20.
