Under any circumstance, do not start making your own Doom mod, you'll troon out if you do. I'm pretty sure all of these Doom modders are just so fucking gross that no woman would ever want to touch them so they turn into "women" themselves and cyberfuck each other.

The best cure for purging toxicity from any community is new blood. Sure, the community will likely balkanize and will never be the same, but what usually happens is the toxicity winds up isolated from the mainstream community. Resetera is an example of this.

Whatever you do, remember it is just an enthusiast forum. It should not influence your perspective of the hobby itself.

Graf, we don't know if he trooned out but I'm leaning towards no. If he did troon out already then I'm impressed that he manages to be less obnoxious than everyone else there.

Gonna say no, he may be autistic, but Graf Zahl is from a way older generation less affected by troonism, and he still goes by Christoph. He was also completely uninterested in adding nu-pronouns to the player settings, and didn't care when the asking trannoid exploded.
I don't see a German who troons out in their 40s not going along with that, and also not insisting everyone calls them Gräfin Zahl from now on.

Doom purists absolutely hate it, but it single-handedly re-popularized Doom for a whole new generation.

I wouldn't say I hate it, but then I'm not a hardcore purist either. There's nice things about it, but also shit things about it. It was more the young fanbase back when it was newer which was the unlikable part, combine with growing journoscum resentment, and Mark acting like a cunt. These days, I just don't care.

That's even easier than editing the port itself (which is open source for anyone to tinker with), because ZScript doesn't require compiling and those are just some text strings, you need virtually zero programming knowledge to strip them out.

It's a good shit on its own but now Mark have handled all the code tinkering to troons. And you bet they do whatever the shit they want with it.

It really is trivial to do that kind of stuff. Go ahead and tinker with other aspects of HD, or other mods, and see if there's details you want to alter. It's easy and fun to do small mods for GzDoom.
