This is SOOOO fucking common with these redditors/zoomers who were raised without a firm value system beyond “consoom!”, being taught to feel shame for who they are, and various talking points like “don’t kinkshame!”

That seems like a good read. The real issue is that zoomers are coombrained and have no fucking idea what it means to have friendships. Obviously it's different for heterosexual relationships because there's usually some romantic or sexual tension there from our human nature, but friendship between people of the same sex can be extremely close without being a sex thing. They're just told that everything has to be about sex so they assume that anyone they're friends with they should be fucking.

Personally I think the whole idea of friendship for the newer generations has been perverted through online social interactions becoming more and more the norm. People are a lot more blase about how they interact with each other in the digital space vs face to face. As more and more of social life is subsumed by the internet I think people growing up in that environment will have relationships defined less and less by who/what they know and more by popular media, which neglects the idea of friendship altogether in most of its stories. Sex sells, and one of the tenets of friendship is the idea of not bumping uglies. No wonder a lot of young people look at strong same-sex friendships such as Frodo and Sam or Holmes and Watson in a romantic lens, they don't expect that kind of bond anywhere except in the erotic sense thanks to movies/TV/video games/etc. A sad situation to be sure.
