Judging from what I've been told and aside from looking like shit, the movie generated "hype/drama" because its the "first queer-friendly" Looney Tunes media that incorporates tranny characters, 'non-binary' gender pronouns, retconning a Tweety love interest into his platonic cousin, 3 minutes of the film are spent dissecting the song "Jessie's Girl" trying to claim that it's actually about Rick Springfield being gay and in love with Jessie and wanting to become a 'woman' in order to become Jessie's girl in a completely non-comedic scene that's delivered completely straight with no joke or punchline, and supposedly one of the people who worked on this retconned Tweety into being non-binary on social media. Its also apparently filled to the brim with the worst kind of reddit humor and forced memes. The abomination was released on June 14th and this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Has anyone actually seen this pile of crap and did the people who create it really sperg out when it failed?

Man the animation sucks. The designs are questionable at best but could work if the movement wasn't so stiff and awkward. I really hate how much the arms just randomly stretch and bend for anything rather than setting the scene so that the normal length would enough. Now I get taking liberties with proportions makes 2d alive and expressive so is very acceptable but not like this. When well done it's either so subtle that you bearly notice or done in creative way that adds in the magic of animation.

Me and some friends actually sat down and watched this. It's really, really bad. Like if some girl took Sylvester fan fiction they wrote when they were 12 and turned it into a bloated TV pilot down to the self-inserts. Space Jam 2 has the excuse of having animation done by long-time industry professionals who know these characters and have worked with them for 30+ years. This is just plain abhorrent and all the more reason NOT to invest in the animation industry, at least the state that it's in right now.

I don't understand why they can't just let the IP die. Clearly, they don't care about it if they're handing it to people churning out shows that don't even last a season.

It's under the series' original pitched name "lakewood plaza turbo" on youtube unless warner took it down again(?) But there's a part where the girl says to the funny short kid "GO KO! GO OUT AND WIN TO THE EXTREME!" while pointing or something similar. It's not the only reference to weird internet shit that probably flew over the corporate heads but it's the only super notable one. I'm currently multitasking on several dumb things at the moment and too lazy to take the time to find and link it proper.

I agree, and that's mainly because the current showrunner, Vincent Waller, used to work at Spumco as a writer for Ren and Stimpy, and later the infamous Adult Party Cartoon

And unsurpisingly, he's just as much of a dick as the rest of them...

My guess is standards and practices got in the way, especially with the moon logic level shit I've seen them force people to take out of things.
