XKCD is the best at pretending to be smarter than everybody and putting 4 paragraphs on a page with a little stick man on the bottom.

it's just stick figures with tl;dr

The creator's also a raging white knight

and probably a hardcore computer geek , xkcd sounds like some obscure unix command

Prior to the comic the author worked on robots for NASA, so yes.

All this. And it is still far less annoying than Dresden Cumfuck... and from time to time well-made and informative:

IMO Munroe should just stick to making scientific infographics like the one above and quit trying to be humorous. The first task he's competent at, the second one leads to short-lived antijokes that can more efficiently be created by colliding Aaron Diaz with Chuck Lorre at the LHC.

I'll put Dresden Codak into this category, as well for the 'webcomic with crazy creator' category. Dresden Codak isn't bottom of the barrel stuff by any means (it compares favorably to Hathor, though what doesn't?) and it has decent art. It does, however, share space with XKCD in trying to sound 'smarter than you' except with a narrative flair. His writing is better suited for comedy, since when he switched to a serious storyline, it comes off as shallow and pretentious and as a vehicle for his transhumanist views. If you disagree with his views, regardless of reasons why, he'll act like the Riddler does around Batman and try to paint you as his inferior.

Related note: he also fits in with Tumblr SJWs when he isn't working on his comic, which tends to be more often that not. He claims to be an authority on feminism, though he can be hypocritical - such as when he chastised others for cheesecake art when he's known for doing the exact fucking thing in Dresden Codak. Additionally, he may block you without saying why if you're a woman that happens to disagree with him (https://archive.is/9AHeM). Classy!

Have you seen his character redesigns? Sad stuff, really. (Why is Cyborg a scrawny nerd?)

One of the most annoying things about Diaz's art is how he does his panels. The guy will just cram as much as he can into one space without thinking it through. Lackadaisy has long pages, but at least it's easy to read and much better drawn and written.

His redesign of Green Lantern looks a bit like he just gave Kimiko from Dresden Codak a Lantern Ring and called it a day, from an aesthetic standpoint.

I tried reading Dresden Codak once..I really couldn't bring myself to follow the plotline, given how much it jinked about.

Diaz is insufferable, and if you ever get a sampling of his tweets, that's how he is in real life (according to someone I know who spent time around him IRL). The man is a raging egotist, and yet he seems like a simpering loser at the same time. The latest laugh-riot I heard about him were his claims to have studied various martial arts and was proficient in them.
