So I am gonna lay out my tism credentials here. Because FF7 is the game that awoke getting sweaty about video games in me.

The Corneo thing as best I recall isn't random. Its a system of points. So the better clothes you wear, you'll get Cloud picked by Corneo. I think you have to have a complete set too. But you might be able to get the accessories and not as great clothes.

This also applies to the date.

That's what I meant. You can progress with the dress and wig but you can also get women's underwear and cologne but those are optional. without those Cloud never gets picked (in my experience with the original FF7). And as you stated the better clothes and wig increases the chance too

Oh and if Phil wants to take on the weapons he needs to do the really long winding stuff: Ruby alone is a pain as it has a certain level of randomness. Ruby bans 2 of your party and if the one left standing isn't the one equipped to take on the fight then sucks to suck. Start again looser! And Emerald has a time limit of 10 minutes unless you get a certain materia. but to get that you have to do a whole rigamarole of things. Ao yeah not likely mate.

A lot of that involves planning, time and grinding, though - he needs to level materia, track down equipment, abuse Control to get enemy skills, etc. iirc getting w.item materia alone takes hours and that’s using one of the two triple growth weapons in the game, which he also won’t get because I’m pretty sure getting Apocalypse for Cloud involves puzzle solving of its own. He definitely won’t get and use Great Gospel, either. He has no idea what it means to 100% FF7 I think is the point myself and others are making and I hope his fan base has at least one autist who knows the game inside out and pesters the fuck out of him until he blows up at them.

You’re not wrong but no one else can push the buttons for him. No one else can spend the 20 minutes spamming Steal at the Ghost Ship to get the Underwater materia. And I haven’t played much Elden Ring myself but from what I have played grinding in that game is a completely different beast. As a person who spent like an entire summer’s worth of nights running around outside Mideel like a retard to master every materia in the game, I can tell you that doing something like that goes beyond autism and into actual endurance.

He doesn’t remember anything about that game other than Tifa having big tits, the gay shit at the Honeybee Inn, Aeris dies and One-Winged Angel. I absolutely guarantee it.

Did he actually finish up Skyrim? If so he needs a new game to beat like a dead horse for a few months and FF7 sounds like a good candidate. It's also one of those games people love to an obsessive degree so it's good bait that'll hopefully catch a whale willing to tell him what to do one tip at a time. If all else fails not like it's hard to find a guide for Final Fantasy 7.

Phil absolutely won’t 100% FF7.

Even with the brigade handholding him all the way, the game still aks for a considerable time investment to grind and learn how to exploit materia combos to even think about going against the Ultimate Weapons… unless you want to rely on extremely precise timing and great RNG with Cait Sith.

Some people already mentioned stuff like the Chocobo breeding which is also quite complex even when following a guide.

There’s also the absolutely mandatory grinding if you want to unlock all Limit Breaks, Aerith’s Great Gospel is a pain in the ass to grind for on CD1.

Expect a playthrough full of excuses, childish jokes and how the game’s mechanics are too archaic. Now that I think of it… that sounds like most of the playthroughs he’s ever done.

Since Sekiro he has read or watched a guide for almost every game and boss fight. That's another reason he stalls so much, his swine brain can only vaguely remember 2 hours worth of a guide at a time.
