The new models in the TLOU remake just look off in an intrinsic way to me. New Joel looks TOO real if that makes sense. Too weathered, his nose and jaw a little less sharp for some reason, I can't put my finger on it but I don't like it,
The remake has me feeling paranoid. The smallest change even down to making the camera look down upon Joel rather than up makes me think this was a creative decision by Druckmann to fuck with the character.

Think about it. Original Joel looks to be aging rough, but he also has an air of strength and authority. By having him be relatively tall and looking down upon most characters he's naturally given authority and a fatherly presence to Ellie.
New Joel looks weaker, shorter, older. He's lost some of the presence he previously had. Perhaps he seems more realistic now, but the original Joel isn't there anymore

Those are not the same scenes., they're just similar camera angles.

The backgrounds for both are different.

We've seen some of the footage though that they've changed the backgrounds. They changed the hospital so that all the dirt and grime is gone and so that it looks like the cleaner Last of Us 2 interpretation. Again, this might just be me being paranoid, but I wouldn't put it past Druckmann using this remake to demean Joel further.
He's already using it to retcon the state of the hospital in the final stage.

They didn't make Abby's dad look more important and he still resembles a random NPC.

The weird thing is TLOU2 was large enough for 2 games, frankly. The plethora of throwback scenes, while good, added a lot of padding to it, like they were scenes meant or designed to be in a tv show.

I've said before that I enjoyed TLOU2, but I played it immediately after finishing TLOU after trying to finish that for years. I already knew about Joel's death, it affected me but not to the point of culture war psychosis.

So, I don't know why they're trying to get blood out of a stone here. Money, I guess....
It’s almost as if they could made a base game like Half-Life 2 and then do sequel expansion like Episodes and it probably would of worked better than Valve and Rituals’ attempts.

TLOU2 was pretty much doomed the instant they decided to make Joel’s killer the main character. The game could have easily survived Joel dying, I think most people were expecting it as soon as the game was announced. But they way it was done and the fact you were expected to immediately love and prefer Abby was just…dumb. Really really dumb.

I don't think the mistake was making Joel's killer the main character. The problem was being obviously desperate for you to like this person, surrounding her with a bunch of shitheads, devoting a lot of time towards a nonsensical b-plot that's only there to further lionize abby, and in the end facing no consequences for all her bad deeds.
It's disturbing how much of an author's pet Abby comes off as, and Druckmann was incapable of actually adding some nuance and relatability to the character.

You're right, I couldn't put my finger on it. He looks diminished, somehow.... I think they want this to be the definitive edition for the people who watch the tv show without knowing anything about the game.

This is really what sticks out. She's all of Druckmann's fetishism and preference for protagonist bottled up into one. Her sole existence was to effectively replace the Joel and Ellie relationship at the core of the last game with a newer, more 'progressive' counterpart.

There's so much whitewashing of morality in general in 2 that retroactively makes the first game less interesting. The Fireflies are now treated like altruistic heroes within the narrative, rather than the scummy incompetent fucks they were in the first game.

The whole thing is just retarded.
You're right, I couldn't put my finger on it. He looks diminished, somehow....
It's a subtle sabotage on the part of the directors to make him sadder and more pathetic. 2 did this in most of his scenes too, he lurks around like a beaten dog, head down, browbeat like a good little white boy. There's a seething resentment for Joel, or perhaps the audience reaction to him, that comes across in the presentation of 2 and now this remake.

Jesus, he's never going to stop being a crybaby over his piece of shit game, is he?
Creators nowadays are just completely averse to saying "I know some people don't like my work, and that's fine," and then just retweeting postive fan art and discussions of the game rather than constantly feeling the need to own the haters.

Neil’s a retard. Probably just salty that a good portion of people aren’t just mindlessly sucking off the shitty looking remake like he probably expected.
Did Neil reach the point where even the LGBT are hating his game?

Imagine going from room to room, from TLOU1 fans to LGB's to the exclusive T'roonn, finally to the actors and each of them hate his game.

I wish I could find the tweet but Cuckman reeeeeeeed hard when some gamer pointed out that the whole theme of the game being that revenge only leads to more violence as the cycle of revenge continues doesn't even make sense because Ellie inexplicably fails to complete the cycle by sparing Abby and letting her escape for literally no reason.

The cycle wouldn't even matter if Ellie killed them both. She already killed an unborn child, so what's a 13 year old girl at that point?

For that matter, she killed over a hundred people by the time she reached Gigantor, what's at least one more kill?

Cuckmann couldn't resist butting into something and making it about himself, this time in response to Ron Gilbert taking an absence from social media, due to criticism about Return to Monkey Island:

And Ashly Burch, the VA who said that Abby was a Piece of Shit (as Mel), came out as being pan, for reasons?
