It is the same thing that’s happened with every “liberal” cause, it’s been taken over to suit the needs of the professional managerial class. The PMC control most media and tech outlets, so they are the ones who end up speaking on behalf of that cause. Part of the PMC belief system is “lifting up marginalized voices,” but they don’t actually want to include anyone too far out of their own class (why would they?). So they always focus on the tame, middle-class version of “marginalized.”
Sex work doesn’t mean prostitution that you are forced into via economic necessity or addiction or abuse. Instead sex workers are represented by quirky middle-class girls who have an Only Fans for extra cash. Mental illness no longer means the schizophrenic homeless guy shitting himself on the street corner, it’s an office worker dealing with ADHD. The most pressing needs of women are no longer “can abused women safely access a domestic violence shelter?” or "how can we stop women being trafficked?" they are “how can I deal with microaggressions during Zoom meetings?” Continue ad infinitum with disability, autism, etc.
No matter the cause, the issues associated with it are now centered entirely through the lens of the elite class (and note that class is never brought up anymore when people talk about diversity or different voices or lived experience).
The trans thing is a part of this too; it’s a liberal luxury belief du jour, so centering the needs of transwomen in say, medical care, is much more important than making sure icky low-class women can access that same care.

The one exception is a performative hatred of billionaires… but not millionaires. Even though there’s a lot more millionaires, and their combined influence probably still outweighs that of mighty financial aberrations like Bezos or Musk. Not really connected to any particular post, but it’s shocking how evil Tony looks. I don’t mean in an omg so kewl capeshit film baddie type of way - no, Tony looks like a fucking serial killer.
