Furry Convention Drama - Because you can't have a couple thousand dog fucking enthusiasts under the same roof without shit hitting the fan

Groat was as fun as any of the modern furry cows, probably moreso. Plus he had a bunch of guns.

Also, I feel like Kage's been internally cancelled over his relationship with 2 and other elements seen distasteful by the Furry hard left. I'd somewhat expect him to step back a bit/forced back as part of the post-pandemic churn.

I don't know if he ever can, he seems to have put his whole effort of his life into furry. IE he doesn't have normie friends because he's bounced around from place to place for his entire life. Not to mention his whole persona is built around the drunken story teller, not exactly the kind of person normal people want around their kids. I imagine he's like a comedian or celebrity, where if he's not "turned on" for his act, he's an amazingly dull person to be around. At least in furry, for those few days a month, he can be his character.

The thing with Kage is that he really doesn't have "good opsec" because allegations have been around for decades. The thing with Kage is he's cultivated a following of ass patters, so that he doesn't need to respond to anything because as soon as someone brings up an allegation, there will a metric ton of furries that will immediately jump up and demand proof. Take the whole Kage is Rogue thing. There's still people in the fandom that will claim nope, he's not Rogue, almost like it's some funny inside joke, but still, the denial is there.
That's my point. He made his mistakes before cancel culture was a thing, and even those mistakes don't really stick to him because it's all so old. Nobody cares, particularly the twitter hate machine. These people won't move a muscle without Discord or Twitter screencaps. And now that he is subject to being canceled, he's more careful than he was 10 or 20 years ago.

@Mikoyan is right, though. Kage did face some backlash for his association with 2 and some other old-school types (2 is 50 already) that did get canceled for their current claims. But it's never enough to get someone as mild in his takes as Kage canceled by proxy. You usually see people who are loud and proud getting yeeted when their loudness and proudness sits wrong with the right furry "influencer" and they get a hate mob whipped their way.

(Also, can I just say how fucking weird it is to refer to a furfag as having been around for over 20 years? Most of these creeps show up, fuck up, and blow up within two years, tops.)

If people are trying to "cancel" Uncle Kage for being with a minor, this will the equivalent to trying to "cancel" a celebrity for associating with someone twenty to thirty years ago for associating with like Bill Cosby or Jeffrey Epstein. Sure, you can try to do it, but it's an Open Secret situation so whose going to bring it up and risk being blacklisted by every single furry convention regardless of how vocal people are against people getting with minors?

Basically. If you even out proven sex crimes you'll just be told that everyone knows and to shut up.

Yes.

I will always repeat: Furries are fucking retards who will forgive other furries for murdering their entire family right in front of them mere months after the murders happen, and not even in a Stockholm Syndrome way either.

I think yor right, and I think Kage also might be cancelproof because his public actions and persona is one of the normal-sounding things about their fandom furries can talk to normies about. His story times make for a good comment to the press and others - oh, he’s just a nerdy comedian who talks about nerd stuff - and a furry can openly talk about them without anyone getting freaked out.

I know a couple of people who were in their 20s and in the fandom in the period between 2000 and 2002, and when they first tried to explain the fandom to me that’s the first thing they led off with was the (safe for work parts of )conventions and Kage’s innocent sounding story hours. The part I found most interesting about their talk was that after listening to them for a while I realized that they didn’t actually LIKE Conway or his story hours and found him pretty overbearing in person and boring onstage. It was pretty clear that the whole retelling was very performative and just part of a ritual on how you get people acclimated to the fandom without causing them to run away screaming.

Agreed. These guys are in fucking Pittsburgh, too. Literally smack dab in the middle of the city. The supposed Burger King franchise is also literally just a quarter mile away from a convention center, these guys are used to weirdos.

Now, Pittsburgh isn't exactly San Francisco in terms of wokeness and political correctness, but any Burger King manager in a store like that who made a habit out of calling clients "fat faggots", whether or not they deserved it, would get strung up by corporate faster than you could say "you're fired".
You'd be surprised how welcoming Pittsburgh in general is to the furries. According to some friends I have that lived in the area, the furries seem to have been adopted as kind-of mascots due to the amount of tourism dollars they pump into the Pittsburgh economy every year during Anthrocon. Of course, your average working-class old Pittsburgher remnant is still going to think they're a bunch of disgusting freaks, but I'd wager it's possible to get through an entire con without interacting with those people.

It just makes that whole story even less likely to have happened, too. These people must be really hard up on oppression bucks to keep coming up with that sort of shit out of whole cloth.

Not sure if this was shared, but furries sperging about cops at Anthrocon.

Yeah, spotted that one too. A couple screens (the thread is long and hilarious):

tl;dr black (?) dude (?) spots some cops, gets PTSD.
Note that, according to Mama Sapphy, the cops didn't actually do anything to anyone, they just admired some Pride merch and kept going.
THOSE MONSTERS

BONUS: AC's furry of the year, Lou Gagliardi, has exposed a bioterrorist spreading COVID:

Way ahead of you:

Honestly, Lou's right about this one, attendees SHOULD get tested (though Covid is going to be the least of their worries),
Con attendees have been generally good about testing for COVID, checking before AND after. Some are even checking during, especially if they’re suspicious of symptoms that show up. (P.S. y’all — that insane fatigue is likely from doing so much walking after two years of work from home.)

Calling someone a bioterrorist for being sick after arriving at a con is asinine, though. You don’t know where the contact point was. Was it at one of the travel hubs? Was it at the hotel? The con itself? Entirely unknown. And the current variants of concern show up on tests several days after exposure.

Furries? Having a sense of proportion? Perish the thought.
Sometimes, infrequently, they don't blow things out of proportion. But those of us who follow Lou know that every day is literally the end of the world, and every dollar you don't donate is literally killing him (you transphobe!).

I’ve been told that historically Anthrocon - or the venue, I can’t remember - has hired off duty police for security, but has their presence and interaction with attendees increased or changed for this year? I’m not sure why furries all of a sudden are getting hard triggered by them at AC. Or is this just because furries flavor of the week is BLM and ABAC?

It's exactly that. Ever since Saint Floyd of the Fent got martyred back in 2020, the furry fandom became particularly loud, obnoxious, and militant about cops and racial grievances. Granted it comes from how dominantly leftist, anarchic, and communistic most furries are, despite the very bourgeois nature of fursuiting and con-going. In an actual totalitarial/communistic police state, they'd get jackboots to their faces for being lumpenproles, so they have zero room to bitch about police trying to thanklessly keep the peace at their cons (unless, y'know, they have something to hide on a hard drive or some shit.)

Even nowadays I still spot many with ACAB/BLM/1312 identifiers in their Twitter profiles, two years on. Hence why the triggered spergery over the police presence at AC despite their demands to chase the Tarkov LARPer out. Furfags wanna have their cake and eat it.
