WTF? No way. Source? If Patrick himself is the source, he is absolutely wrong. His first publisher (Angry Robot) hands out contracts to anyone with a pulse and a fully-written manuscript. He probably got $15-20k for each book, possibly less which is why he can technically say he earned out his first couple books - the advance was so low. As for his second publisher, he was handed a contract purely because he is a SJW and someone at the company hooked him up. However he had sales numbers at that point and they were abysmal, so his advances were probably not much higher than his first publisher's.

I was under the impression that he did manage to pull off a one time $100k advance from tor which was obviously never made back. I can't remember where I read that info but it could be me misremembering his 'six figure author' claim. Which if he got a few $20k advances over the course of a few years could be technically true for technicality tomlinson but would still put his income in the pre-covid frycook bracket.

And that would just be income of course, not counting all of the copies he bought for handsales, the flying he does to cons, etc. Which you could argue he'd be writing off as business expenses but I doubt he and Nikki make enough money to itemize their taxes.

A reminder that this is brought to us by the same genius who named characters Firstname Lastname and Fonald Plumpf. Torque Wheeler is almost believable and would not be out of place for the main character in an 80s action movie so either this is his best work ever or he stole it somewhere.

Even if you have the facts on your side being involved in litigation isn't fun unless you're the lawyer getting paid for it. But as we've established before Patrick has no gas left in the tank. Funnily enough he has dox on several ona people and has done precisely nothing with them. He tried a restraining order on Andrew because he violated the hooligans sanctum but I doubt he'd spend any time in the courts with a random Kiwi, but don't intend to be the one to find out. Someone with more free time can get us another "Didn't you?" moment.

He was as stubborn as Patrick, but in intelligent ways, unlike Patrick.
