Yeah it works a bit differently so I get why you're confused. When he picked file 1 he picked the save file, then when the 3 boxes appeared, that's actually the save games where you save the game. Another thing that gives away the fact that he didn't save is that before he saved you can see that Cloud is level 14, if Phail actually saved the save game would change to say level 14 rather than level 13.

If Phil were to be playing against real people offline, then he'd have to find new excuses as to why he's constantly getting his ass beat. Him talking about offline play is just a way for him to cope to his retards and act like he'd somehow magically be a God at fighting games if it was in-person.
That progress bar is it reading your save data. The original release saved on memory cards so it took a little bit. It's redundant when the save is on a fast hard drive of a modern system but it's still hard coded into the game.

It was a funny fail that reminded me of his WWE 2K premiere this year. Got taken down by Susan which forced him to play the career mode. Spent 30min making his outfit and then reset it because he didn't pay attention. Then he rage quit the mode and came back to re-make his character.

No need to hit home with comments like these. I would like to add this is another shield or defense mechanism for Phil. Doing the silly face deflects from acknowledging his age. In his mind he can go "I don't look like a sick old man because of the silly face"
