I would only caveat that by saying TJ doesn't care about how people view him, only that they view him. He's an admitted attentionwhore and his entire Youtube career is him riding on the latest trends to get clicks and views. First atheism, then antifeminism/anti-SJW-ism, and now going woke/leftard.

Given his history of giving up on pretty much everything because he is lazy and gets bored easily, I doubt he will stick with it long enough to make a difference to his weight, unless his brother shames him into it or makes a bet with him.
Last time I watched a DP stream, a few weeks ago, they were literally begging DSP style for donations. Doesn't seem to be doing that great.

Yep. Many of the new atheist of the 2000s valued their intellectual capabilities above all else. People think they just discarded their emotions because they thought of themselves as logical but they looked down upon the physical arts because like MovieBob they thought transhumanism was only a few years away and why care about a body when you'll get an optimal one. Physical activity was also something they associated with the bullies they dealt with in school and now these people are the new socialist movement.

TJ's claim is that Ben deleted some of their stuff without warning him, because TJ showed a dildo on video and some other stuff that didn't fit Twitch guidelines, also he wanted to focus on a more direct show like how Deep Fat Fried would focus on 5 Bad Videogames for a 2-3 hour episode ect ect rather than do streams like the 24 hr DP Episode that had been promised, and the tons of differen themed segments that DP had at the time.
Actually I remember the split vividly. Ben spazzed out and deleted an episode because while he was away TJ, Paul, and Scotty decided to cover a video by Brett Keane wherein Brett talked about accusations that Ben was cheating on his girl and using the DP fanbase as his own private pool to troll for poon, which was something Ben absolutely did not want attention drawn to.
I don't think they really believed in transhumanism, I think they just used it as a cope. Most of the transhumanist people who are seen as the leaders of the movement are in decent shape, not muscular, but definitely thin and most of them do a lot to keep their health up as much as possible. From what I remember Kurzweil eats some ungodly amount of supplements and pills in hopes of keeping his body running. I remember when I was younger I was really into the whole thing and even then the message was take care of yourself as a hedge if nothing else.
The longer DP went on as a show, the more the segments fell apart, usually because they would either get bored and get too high. Then they would end up fixed on a single topic for most of the episode, a lot of the time that subject they fixated on was Brett Keane being a sperg.
If you believe in upcoming transhumanism, it makes sense to want to stay in shape and alive so that you can live long enough to experience it. Transhumanists who are fat, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, smoking, don't walk, don't move and so on are a fucking joke. Those cling to the label to feel like their life might end up not wasted if they get those sweet upgrades. Because they are incapable of getting into decent form themselves. But being reasonably fit should be a normal "humanist" task, not something beyond.
I think you're discounting a clear wing of the transhumanist movement that dreams of becoming Baron Harkonnen.
