Judging by his talk of "valid terms", Chris will likely be released on parole, meaning that he would have completed his maximum sentence for his misdemeanor, but he will also have to abide by certain rules and regulations, which would usually involve him contributing to society in some way or not commiting anymore crimes, otherwise he risks being thrown back into jail, or in the worse case scenario, he will go to prison.
