As far as I am aware, Illinois doesn't give you a lawyer when you file pro se, but you can request it and the court may grant it "in few select cases where having an attorney seems appropriate or important". "The court has no obligation to appoint counsel in a civil case"
It's only in a few counties and only for pro se filers. I honestly forget which county it came up in but apparently it is a taxpayer funded program. It stopped a lol suit in its tracks. Was pretty funny.

The "muh anxiety" cop out is my favorite, because he thinks it excuses whatever he does, no matter how awful if he claims he did it because he was anxious. He said when he ranting about his ban from Hof's brothels that he said the hooker had AIDS because he was anxious, and anxiety is a disability, so the ADA means he couldn't be banned from the brothels because of his lie. Of course, this isn't how it works at all, but Russ's misunderstanding of the ADA has fueled a lot of his lawsuit antics, so it's good to know why he thinks he has the law on his side.
