What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

AI War: Fleet Command. "This fucking game is so broken, dood! I capture worlds like it says then when I'm about halfway through the fucking AI just cheats itself a million ships and destroys everything!"

Phil should play Vagrant Story so that I can hear the King of Retro himself proclaim that the best looking game on PS1 is ugly.

Anything trivia-based will expose him as the poser he is.

Geography, Pop Culture, History, Science, he's lost. When it comes to raw knowledge about stuff, where you can't weasel out of a question, avoid, deflect or beat around the bush, he's absolutely screwed

Or Hagane. Or any other of those hardcore games. When you think about it video games on the early consoles were all Souls-like. If you play it on emulator you can simply cheese with Save stats
The Wii U virtual console saved his ass with how you could use save states to play through older titles, otherwise he was definetly going to flat out rage quit DK64 (which would have looked really bad since that was a viewers choice) and despite being slightly better at Mario 64 compared to Sunshine based on the amount of times he died and stars he collected, he had to use the saves states a dozen times to get through certain levels, otherwise that also would have been a rage quit.

King of retro/classic or whatever he claimed to be was misleading the moment he said it.

Any game which is immune to Phil's strategy of guides and cheesing. With that in mind:

* Advance Wars Days of Ruin (Dark Conflict for Europeans). There is one mission about 3/4 of the way through, "Waylon Flies Again", where the AI starts at an advantage and runs almost entirely on RNG; even good players (which Phil is not) can struggle if the RNG is unfavorable and bad ones (which he is) cannot find a day-by-day guide because, again, RNG. Then there is the final mission which is punishingly hard and has some amount of RNG too, just out of spite.
* A Nuzlocke run of any Pokemon game. What's the normal way to clear a Pokemon game? Using OP Pokemon with favorable matchups and liberal use of potions/Full Restores/Revives. What do the Nuzlocke rules include? Only catching the first Pokemon on each route, no legendaries, no items in battle besides held ones, and permadeath.
* Mario Bros. Lost Levels or a 100% run of Super Mario World. Lost Levels is platforming hell with few checkpoints from start to finish, most of SMW is easy but Special Zone is brutal.
* Bloodstained Curse of the Moon. See above, just with NES Castlevania instead of platforming. The unusual death mechanic which lets you keep going after you die, but with one fewer character in your party is almost certain to give us salt too. This goes double if he goes for 100% completion.

Bonus points if chat trolls Phil into killing/ignoring all of the other characters. He will lose his shit trying to finish the game with only Zangetsu, with or without the abilities you get for killing them.

On that note, I'd love for him to actually pick Bloodstained itself up again, if only to show how little appreciation and respect he has for it.

Phil has an insane amount of games he could play that could be entertaining. I always look at how enjoyable it is to watch Aris (avoidingthepuddle) and then compare that to DSP who makes the entire experience miserable. And Aris doesn't have a modern setup, but he is still entertaining.

Any of the hyperdimension neptunia games
40K Space hulk: Deathwing
Pathfinder: Kingmaker

i would dare say each of those can give prime goldust
I can guarantee he'd rage at Deathwing. The genestealers are pretty brutal on any difficulty except easy and Phil definitely wouldn't take advantage of any of the tools given to him to succeed.
